I Have a Confession to Make

On Blondie's Spelling Quiz thread, I only got 9/15.

I went into that quiz - oh-so-smug. I KNEW that I would get at least 14 or 15/15. I am a GOOD speller.

Yah right.

I was astonished when I saw my score. I could not believe it. I was really taken down a peg or two.

So I did not post my score on that thread. I was too embarrassed to post that score amoung all of the 14/15s and the 15/15s. NO ONE had gotten a score that low.

UNLESS...other people, like me, were too embarrassed to post low scores to that thread. Would that be you?

Or am I the worst speller on the DIS?

No, I'm the worse speller on the DIS. I scored well on the test because I could spot the misspelled word next to the correctly spelled word, (but notice that I got the two easiest wrong ). Here's the thing -- if that test had sound, and asked us to spell the word, I probably would have only gotten two correct (the two I got wrong ).
Or -- if that test had given 4 choices instead of two, I probably would have scored a lot lower. And - if someone misspelled one of those words in a post, I probably wouldn't notice.

I get low scores on some of the tests I take here and I post the scores because -- who cares! They're just for fun! . No one will judge you based on the scores you get on the tests, they're all just for fun. That would be pretty funny if they did. "Hey -- I don't like that chick, she took one of those tests and she scored that she is a Rainbow Brite instead of a Care Bear." "Hey did you know that that guy scored a lemon on the "What Fruit are You" test? Stay away from him, he's a weirdo." LOL!

We love ya Beth! Even if you scored a 0 on that spelling test and are too chicken to admit it.

Oh yeah, I'm not the worst, I forgot about that guy!

But, Beth - ask everyone how to spell Pittsburgh and I bet about 45% would get it correct!

As long as I'm around I don't think you have anything to worry about, Beth.
(Of course, proofreading would help me a lot. But I am such a slow typist (I do the 2 finger peck) that I don't have time to read back over my posts!

Beth, don't let it get to you..

The words they chose were very easily misspelled, they were picked to fool you!

I agree with Maggie, if most people were told to spell a word without choosing between them, the scores would have been MUCH lower!

Also realize that spelling is NOT a learned science, you've either got that part of the brain or you don't! It is not a sign of intelligence!

Take it from the woman who when asked "Do you have a dictionary?" says "I AM a dictionary!" A lot good it's done me!
