I hope someone can tell be I am completely wrong, but I have a bad feeling about AP rates for October, November, December. I have a sinking feeling that there may not be any for that time period. If I remember right it has only been the last two years that AP rates were offered during the last quarter. Before that -- nothing! Wonder if it could happen again? Please tell me I am probably wrong!

Maybe I am going to be paying rack rate for the first time!

It could go in any direction, but as a local I think Disney is forced to continue offering attrative discounts. Many new hotels have opened near WDW. Most locals prefer to stay there rather then on site. This does not just affect the resorts, but the dining places in the resorts as well.
This yearwe stayed at WL in July and going back in September because of very attrative FL Resident rates.
So I feel in my opinion the "times" is on the side of the customer.

Maybe I'm not understanding your question/concern, but I got AP rates at the Contemporary as long ago as December/1997. Apart from the holiday weeks (Thanks. and Xmas), I'm pretty sure all those months are considered low season. I realize the current situation has everyone spooked, but I think you may be overreacting. :)

Edited to add: Hmm, now that I'm thinking about it, they may have been Florida Resident rates. :\ Sorry. Shutting up now.

In the late 1990's, the economy was booming and there were alot more people traveling. I don't think that's the case now.

Also in the late 1990's, lots of people had the free MKC cards and were getting discounts with that (myself included, I got 20% on 4 trips in 1998 & 1999). Not too many people left with The Disney Club Card.

I think they will come. I would look up your dates on the online reservation system for room only, that will tell you which places still have rooms. I'm waiting for Oct 1 to 6 and most resorts have empty rooms in almost all categories. Remember that 4/28 to 7/3 did not come out until 4/21, then 7/3 to 8/23 came out on 5/9.

till 8/3 or 8/4. For some reason Im thinking 8/3 is the date they will be released. No, not psychic- just heard it from many sources and in my vague memory, Sunday has been the day in the past.
After that, I may join you in the sinking feeling dept (altho I did get one of those cool postcard rates so Im still only paying 199/nite for the bc in sept.). For ONCE in my life, I think Im in a win win here.
Here's hoping the AP rates come out for all of us soon!

I have had that bad feeling too....but just too afraid to voice it. I keep feeling that we may not see any AP rates until the beginning of the 2004. However, I have been going to WDW for years between Labor Day and Thanksgiving and have always received an AP rate room. But then I think, the big "7 Nights for the Price of 4" promo may have accomplished what they wanted and they may not feel the need to offer AP rates at this time.

I wonder if this PS fiasco is holding up the AP rates. Maybe they are programming those changes. It looks like Monday is going to be the big day for the PS change, they probably don't want to add people calling for AP rates on top of it.

You could be very well right. The PS thing has gotten out of hand and WDW needs to take a hard look at it. It is the Dining places that are the big problem. With the low attendaence many had a hard time hanging on. It is my opinion that it should be no more then 60 days for any PS.

Now thats a good theory. Ill subscribe to that one with you! So AP rates should come out before or after....I also heard Wed. So maybe Wed 8/6?

I wouldn't worry too much, they will probably put out discount rates rather than have empty rooms. I am a stockholder of Disney and the news we keep getting is that theme parks are still experiencing low attendance etc...even though other endeavors are showing profits. I think discounts will be coming.

The fact that the rates were out (for about an hour) and then pulled because of problems has me pretty assured that they are forthcoming. It sounds more like a system problem than a lack of discount. It wouldn't make sense for them to give discounts for only those lucky few who happened to call during the right hour.

There is sooo much competition in FL right now. The Breakers in Palm Beach (5 star) just had a deal for $149 and the Ritz Carlton in Key Biscayne for $169. In my mom's AAA magazine there was a deal for Gaylord Palms in Orlando for a REALLY cheap rate. I think it was $119( it would include our Nov dates). It doesn't make $199 for the BC look that great to me. Especially the Ritz one.

Here is something that does not make sense. Just checked WDW site to get FL Resident AP’s and said noting available
Given the fact they turned to us during post 9/11 to weather the drop in attendance and the State of Florida spending tax dollars urging us to stay in Florida for vacations. This not going to sit well with many down here, will have to monitor for future update.

Given the fact US has a two year offer for the price of one.

hi,
my last trip was apr27-may 10 /03 and i waited and waited for AP rates to come out, and read thread after thread of how people thought these rates were a thing of the past and would not be offered as often. 5 days before my trip the AP rates were released:) i was pretty excited and was able to upgrade to AKL for half of my trip....so...don't give up:D
