Can anyone give me ANY info on the 'inexpensive' (cheap) hotels in the DL area?
Have read both good and bad reviews about Penny Saver Inn, Super 8, Red Roof, Rodeway, etc.....

This is a last minute, unplanned--but welcomed!--trip and the budget is VERY tight!!

Found some rooms for under $50 (listed above) but don't want to be somewhere bad....just want a clean, bug-free room, with a pool!!

Any info will be appreciated!!

The Super 8 on Katella is one of my favs- Its clean and Ive never had an issue there-Its a tad far but still very walkable

It has a pool- Its outdoor but still nice

My cousin stays at the Desert Inn and Suites with her husband and children every time. She said it is clean and a short walk to DL. :wave2:

We stayed as a large group at the Super 8 on Disneyland DR. It was very clean, they had doughnuts and coffee in the morning, and had a cute little pool and hot tub. We were able to walk to the parks (although it was a bit of a trek!). We walked from the hotel, through the Mickey & Friends parking structutre, and then down to the tram there at the parking structure - then rode the tram to the parks - and reversed that in the evening. All told it took about 10-15 minutes to get from the room to the gates. I would have loved to have stayed closer - but we were able to get rooms for only $45 a night - so a little extra walking was worth it! Everyone was happy with the hotel for that price.

I have personally never stayed at the Howard Johnson but because the reviews have been so good on this forum we are trying it in Nov. The regular rice is $69 for a normal room. On the Hojo website they offer several different discounts; an AP rate of 15% off, a good customer 7% dis. and a couon of 10% off. the hotel is in view of the DL monoral and fireworks and only a 7- 10 min walk and 2 pools. Check it out at:

Hope this gives you a little more info. ::MinnieMo

The Super 8 is one of the places I am looking into and thanks to these notes, I will book it today! We won't be walking because I have a bad knee, so distance is really not an issue....I just hate bugs--had a bad experience at a hotel in FL with a bug..... :sad2:

We will be there next week, and Super 8 has rooms for $44, :cool1: and that will fit into our budget!

Last November I was able to get a $49 (it could have been even $39 I just remember it was under $50) at the Park Inn International. This is not the Park Place Inn or the Park Vue Inn incidentally. It was a very close walk, close to the McDonalds, had a small, outdoor pool (great place to see the fireworks) and a free continental breakfast. It was clean but very basic. For that rate, it was fine. The rate I got at the Park Inn was a web rate that had to be paid up front but you might check their website, www.parkinn.com

You may want to try Priceline. I got the Hyatt Orange County for $45 per night in June. You can go to www.biddingfortravel.com to see what other hotels in the area are getting won by other Priceline bidders (I would avoid posting - the mod over there is a real problem child). I have been bidding on Priceline for hotels for years, and have never been sorry.

I did get it for $40. on Priceline. I have seen people getting even better rates on there too. I also agree on going to www.biddingfortravel.com to find out all of the ins and outs of bidding on Priceline. I got the Fairfield Inn and it was clean and very good for our family of 5. Also, there is free parking and it is walking distance from Disney and there are lots of restaurants, even a snack bar on 3rd floor that is inexpensive. I even liked it better than the Hyatt Regency OC we stayed at last time. The Hyatt charges for parking and is further away. Good luck!

We got the the Hyatt for 43.00 on price line for July 25th - 30th.
Even with the parking fee it's around $55.00 a night for a three star hotel.
Others in our group got the Annabella for around $50. and it has no parking fee. I agree check out biddingfortravel.
