I want to temporarily block someone from receiving news feeds from me. I still have my son's ex-girlfriend and mom as my friends. I don't have the heart to delete them and we still chat from time to time. It's all good - she and DS are young and don't have hard feelings. However, I want to post his prom pictures from tonight (obviously with a new girl) and I feel like that will be tacky, knowing they would see. But I want my other friends to see - they have known my DS since he's a baby!

I think I found how I can block them from seeing a photo album, but will this also block them from receiving the update on their homepage that the album was posted? It just doesn't seem that cut and dry from what I can tell, but there has to be a way.

As far as I can tell, there's no way to do this. I'd love to do it with my mom. She's so horrible at Internet communication and never understands that I'm not always completely serious in my updates. :teeth:

It's kind of logical, then, that if I block someone from viewing a photo album, that photo album will not appear in their news feed. Sound right? I'm going for it, thanks everyone.

If they are old enough to be of prom age, I would hope she would be old enough to realize that he's going to go to prom with another girl rather sit home because they broke up. The girl could have even just have been a friend, not a girlfriend.

I say post them and don't worry about it. You can't protect people from the real world.

I know! You're right...I probably care more than the girl does. I like the mom so much and I don't want her thinking I'm a heartless witch! Thought it would be an easy click or 2, just for decorum, you know?

Your question is still a great question though because there might be times you do need to hide pictures from co-workers or future employers. So I'm grateful to who posted that link above. :thumbsup2

If you're curious about whether it will work, find another friend on Facebook, create an album and hide it from them, then post something innocuous in that album, and ask them if they see anything about it on their news feed.
