It's wet and it's cold and my dog gets lost in it (it's deeper than he is tall) and worst of all, it traps us in doors. Sure, it's pretty, but not from underneath!

Where are you? (General area - no specifics..:)) How much snow do you have?

DD's dog absolutely loves the snow - runs around, hops around, hides his face in the snow.. It's hysterical to watch..

But when it's raining? You literally have to drag him out the door to go potty..

Hi! Not OP, but I'm in Western NY, south of Buffalo. We got hit hard last night. My town got about 16 inches already. North of Buffalo & in the city, NO snow at all. Supposed to snow thru tomarrow. :sad2:

Didn't make it to work. Lucky I made it home last night. There is a 9 -11 mile section of the thru way closed due to accidents. There are people stranded on the thru way since 8 PM last night. No time table to free it up either.

Talk radio is all over it, too. People are not getting any help: no food, water or rest rooms. There are hundreds of cars; people are running out of gas. And No answers from the Thru Way Authority or state troopers. Just "we're working on it"...

I was on the thru way & could tell it was really going to be bad. I was able to make my way off & go opposite of the way I needed to. Got to city streets & eventually made it home. I have been stranded several times before. Getting too old for that. :rotfl2:

Well that certainly sounds like a scary situation - all of those poor stranded people..:(

I'm glad that you're home though - safe, sound, and warm..:goodvibes

Thanks! :) I'm warm, but sore from shoveling!!

They are still stuck on the thru way. The Red Cross has set up a shelter & I think they are walking people to buses on exit ramps & buses to get to the shelter. They're leaving cars on the thru way to be towed later, if I understand correctly.

Folks are pretty mad; this is Buffalo, for pete's sake. We get lots of big snow storms. We shouldn't be stuck for 15 hours with no plan. :confused3

Sorry but if I ever got stuck in snow like that I'd be putting a for sale sign on the house asap and moving to Florida. I haven't liked snow since I was a kid and after the amount we has last year I would be perfectly happy to never see a snow flake again. LOL

I'm in Lancaster, right on the dividing line of this band of snow. It's crazy on the south side of Genesee street where I am & nothing on the north side!

The airport had 5 inches last night........we had 20. I could walk to the airport if I wanted!!!!! It's still snowing here & they said the snow watch is in effect until tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. YUCK, YUCK & more YUCK!!!

I certainly wish it were that easy to just pack up & move away. If it were I would have been gone years ago.

We purchased a condo in Florida last year & look forward to the day we can retire there, but it won't be for quite a few years.

Yikes!! Please stay safe and warm.. Guess I'm going to have to turn on the Weather Channel or the news and catch up on what's happening with the weather!

me too, that is why I live in FL!! I don't know how you guys make it out of the house, although I am sure most northerners are used to it.

Yeah - we've got the drill down pat..LOL.. We might moan and groan every time a big snow storm comes our way, but the other 3 seasons? Perfectly happy (and thankful) to be here and enjoy them..:goodvibes

And I thought I was cold! It's sunny & 52 here today and I am sitting with a space heater beside me.:rotfl2:

I actually hate being out in the snow myself. We don't get much here at all but when we lived in Raleigh NC & in Lexington, KY we had enough to last me a life time. I don't know how you all do it. Stay safe & warm up there.

:wave2: West Seneca here! Near Orchard Park & Elma boarder. My DH wanted to move when we got married, over 30 years ago. I wanted to raise my kids near our families. Kids are grown now & luckily have gotten jobs in the area. Of course, that means we're stuck here forever. :sad2: Can't leave my kids! :rotfl:

52 & sunny? I'll take it. The snow piles at the end of my drive way are already as tall as me. I'm 5ft 2. By tomarrow, I'll be shoveling heavy, wet snow over my head. It's a talent I wish I didn't have.

I hate the snow. :rolleyes1

focusondisney......I just came home from my dance studio, which is in Tonawanda. They is literally not a flake on the ground up north!

It's very surreal isn't it? I'm in the northtowns...absolutely no snow, yet if I got in my car and drove 10-15 minutes south or east of me I'd be getting buried. I heard on the weather channel could get up to 40 inches. Yes, we are used to snow..but that much snow in such a short time is crazy.

edited: I grew up in Cheektowaga/Sloan...wanted to stay in that area but husband is from Tonawanda and wanted to stay here...so glad I listened to him

I HATE SNOW TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've lived in New England all my life and the winter is my least favorite season. I could live with just spring, summer and fall. The worst thing is driving in it... I dnt think I will ever feel comfortable.

Oh.. I don't miss that AT ALL!!! I'm from Buffalo as well - born and raised in the Amherst/Williamsville area. I moved to FL about 2 weeks after I graduated from college. No more -10 walks to my car!!!

It's about 40 here right now and we're brrr cold. My blood thinned out :rotfl:

Good luck! My mom said they got about a foot where I grew up, but my aunt in West Seneca got over 3 ft in less than a day!!! :scared1:

We get all 4 seasons here, but not much snow in the city (but lots in the mountains which are a quick drive). Love it!!!!! It was freezing over Thanksgiving, but is warming up again day by day. Tomorrow it's supposed to be in the low 60s! :thumbsup2

I JUST LOVE SNOW!!! :cool1:

We live in western Pa., our ski resorts are opening soon! We are going to Vermont in 2 weeks, we will be there for a week and I can't wait!

Skiing, snowshoeing, sleigh-riding, sledding...then having that cup of hot chocolate!!:love:

Yay!!! :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Nice to meet so many WNYers here! :goodvibes Misery is always easier when you share it! :)

As much as I hate snow (my back is in spasms from shoveling!) I'll take snow over hurricaines, tornados, earthquakes or floods. Those poor Southern Tier folks are dealing with freezing cold flood waters now. I can't even imagine how you would clean up after having all that water & mud in your house. :sad1: Hugs to them!
