Well, I dont care for math also. Some of the stuff we learn I can't imagine me using but whatever. I bet it's easy for me to say this but I agree with llama62. Lay off the VMK. Also, I bet your teacher would be more than happy to help you after school. It might be a pain but I helps. Hope this helps you.

don't be afraid to ask the teacher for help. they may tutor you or get you some extra credit.

Why are you getting low grades in your math? Is because you don't understand how to solve the problems or are you making dumb mistakes that you can correct by proofing your papers before handing them in? directions My advice is to isolate the problem then take steps to correct it.

As far as your mom goes, tell her you realise you need to do better and that you will sincerely work on doing just that. Since it is out of character for you to get D's she might be concerned that something else is going on. TALK TO HER : )

Thanks for all the adivice! im laying off vmk now well because im computer is acting all whack! and im working on my math.. im raising my grade up to an D+ ;] im almost to a C! Thanks For The Adivice guys!!!!! :goodvibes :thumbsup2 :hippie:  :woohoo:

Er, I've been hating math more and more the past couple of months.

My math grades are dropping severely.

Gotta study more. :magnify: So hard to remember all these different
formulas though!

 Lol i know its so confusing! sometimes im lost all the time..

teacher: what is the square root of 12? :teacher:

me: the anser is A!

:snooty: :headache:

the key to math is to develop your own system for multiplication and division and such, whatever works for you and gets the correct answer is fine, do not nessecarily try to conform to their way of doing things. I personally do things very backwards, and I got a B in calculus and can do complex multiplication in my head.

Took the words right out of my mouth. I make my own shortcuts and systems while doing calculus. And just like you I've been getting a B. My personal systems always help me.

Find a study partner! I did lousy in high school algebra, but aced it in college! Find someone who can make you understand in a different way than your teacher explains it. Definitely talk to your parents, maybe they will hire a tutor for you. Math doesn't have to be so bad, once you understand the basic formulas it's fairly simple. You will need those strange formulas later, so please find someone who can help you with the basics.
Good luck! And try to find some fun in math! :goodvibes

Well, I do not get a B "now" that was like... 20 years ago lol

I had a B+ in my first 2 marking periods. Now it's up to an A in this one.

I suggest getting a study buddy :) My math teacher stopped teaching us and I mean that literally. He just stopped and told us to learn from the book @_@ The only way I'm passing Trig at the moment is from the help my math smart friends are giving me.

whatever you do, don't forgo learning the correct way to do things...lookign back i kick myself for not learning some aspects of math better. The things you are learning now will come back to haunt you, so learn them now! :)

Study partners, tutoring, all very good suggestions!

I absolutely LOVE math! If you ever need help understanding something, I'm only a PM away :teeth:

(Aengus, shut up!!)

Same here, I hate my math teacher and have a C in here class. I just pay a ttention once in a while and hope for the best.

THIS ISN'TGOOD ADVICE, BUT IT'S WHAT I DO.

Tip I: Here is how i study; i don't. Studying, especially in math, does you no good. Try doing some practice problems before quizes and tests. DONT study, if you forget to study 1 area, the rest of your studing will make it harder to remember things you knew before studying.

Tip II: Try to sit next to friends in math. If you're not sitting next to a friend you will tend to zone out, and pay less attention. When sitting near a friend you want to pay attention bc you and you're friend can talk about it or your friend could help you if you don't get whats going on.

Tip III: If you're teacher is giving out word problems, try to make up your own funny one that relates to your life, it will be easier to understand and more memorable.
