I HATE it When I explode soda in the freezer!

And I am the only one that does it. Yesterday I put two cans in the freezer and forgot about them until I heard a loud pop! Both cans exloded. All in the ice bin, the top of the freezer (side by side) and down both sides. I am glad it was diet coke. Easier to clean up! I just finished!

You need to set a timer when you put them in! 30 minutes is good!

I had about 4 12 packs sitting in the garage this past winter and one day as I was walking upstairs I heard this pop....pop,pop...........pop, pop sound. Opened the door into the garage and another popped, about gave me a heart attack

That was a nice mess to clean up and we had to move all the pop inside until it warmed up a bit. It's always so handy to just leave it in the garage during the winter months, until it drops way below zero

I don't ever put stuff in the freezer because I would forget it every time.

I just use ice cubes, it is safer.

I hate this too! DH always discourages me from putting pop in the freezer. I just love having cold pop with ice, and I always do this when I don't have any cold ones in the fridge. But man, it sure does stink when they explode. I always tend to find chunks of Dr. Pepper even after a few days. It never fails, I always miss some of it.

Similar to the garage story - we bought a can of coke from a machine while grocery shopping back in January - the can was sticky, so we dropped it in a box that was in the back of the car (hatch area). The temperature dropped and the can exploded - there was coke from one end of the car to the other! Back window - front windshield! What a mess!

More often than not a can will explode in the freezer - my short term memory is HORRIBLE!

That's nothing. My wife put some fish in our garage freezer. The freezer was on a GFCI curcuit and, unbeknowst to us, the circuit tripped. The freezer was without power for a week before my wife noticed. It was 11 on the 1-10 stink scale.

Handy tip (because I do this all the time) stick it in a plastic target / walmart / grocery bag before sticking it in the freezer.

It's bad when the temps go the other way too. A few years ago DH left a can of Big Red and one of DP and they exploded in my Suburban because the temps got so high that day. That was not fun to clean up.

I finally stopped putting pop in the freezer because I was sick of explosions.

If I do it now, I do it while I'm making dinner and only 1 can to have with dinner.
I've never forgotten doing it this way... probably because my mind is soley focused on "dinner' and nothing else..

I'm really weird about my pepsi's at home. I don't like to put ice in them because to me it dilutes the drink. I like to put it in the freezer for about 30 minutes and it has just a little bit of slush in it. I know weird.

I know. There was no excuse for not using the timer on the stove. Its right beside the fridge.

We always put the can into a ziploc bag before putting it in the freezer. If it explodes, you just throw out the bag. If it doesn't, save teh bag for your next soda/freezer adventure.
