Oh my gosh I hate the iPad as the new camera!! I was just thinking about it, how last time I went when parades or a show was happening, somebody was seriously blocking my view with their big old iPad.. Whhhhhyyy.

Help me plan around that lol

I hate them too. I think people look goofy doing it.

Agree, I love my Ipad but there is no way, I'll carry it around and use it as a camera.
Last month at SW this guy used his ipad to film the Shamu show. He was in the splash zone, so when the whales started splashing, he used his ipad to cover his head. They showed it on the big screens, it was so funny! I'm not sure if the ipad was working after being soaked :rotfl:

Move 2 steps to the left or right

How do you suggest that the OP move two steps to the left or right when everybody is packed in like sardines? Bc if you have found a way to do this or some better alternative, please, by all means, share:goodvibes

The same thing happens when you have waited for the parade to begin and the person ahead of you puts a chile on their shoulders.

You are just out of luck.

OMGosh! Me too. At MK watching the MSEP and someone is taping it using the IPAD. I was so annoyed. Its just so big and distracting.
:furious:

I agree....it was my biggest pet peeve last year. I had one held up in front of me at the Beauty and the Beast show at HS, the Little Mermaid show at HS and the Nemo show at AK. But they were being used to record the show not just take pictures.

Don't hate the ipad! Hate the idiot that actual thinks it records a descent movie. The video quality is way worse than a $100 camera that records video. The lens is like a 1/4 inch! What are they thinking? Some people are ignorant and just don't know better, and I personally don't think it's too far out of line to point it out. Like those people that still use a flash when ten signs and 4 CM have reminded them not to use flash. Asks them politely to unblock our view and if they don't, cheer on the parade like nobody's business too ruin his video. MICKEY WE LOVE YOU, YOU'RE THE GREATEST!! WOOOO!!! ;)

Yes! I'm all for iPads even if you want to use it. But like u said people are recording the whole thing. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only considerate one.. And why? Imma start carrying two iPads woohoo

Well I guess I am hated then. I use the iPad to take photos and videos to load into my daughter's iPad apps for autism/communication and that includes at WDW. I do make an effort to not obscure anyone's view and make my video taping brief. Mostly I use it for still photos.

You know you don't have to use the iPad to do that, you can use a small iPhone and transfer it to the iPad later? You've got to understand, that it is completely ruining the experience of the parade or show for the people behind you, please reconsider using something much smaller so they can enjoy it too?

People do look pretty ridiculous with their iPads in the parks .. it must be annoying to carry around all day too!

This can't be serious.

It boils down to respect for other's space and it's been going on for years. It was video cameras "way back when" and then it was someone beside you or in front of you sticking their arms and camera out to get a better (?) view. Or someone cramming in front of you when you've been patiently waiting for a parade, etc. Or someone -- as noted earlier -- who puts their child on their shoulders.
We were at MK one evening and didn't quite get back to Main St. nearer the entrance and got trapped by the parade. And at that time the CMs wouldn't allow you to cut back or through any of the areas that were closed. We were at least 18 ft. back from Main St. (and the parade) and could only see the tops of the floats, but people were picking up their kids and putting them on their shoulders....... I hope the kids had a good view because no one else did. And we literally couldn't move.
Believe me, it never happened again after that. It was probably the last night time parade we watched at MK. Limited our evening watching activities to EPCOT.
And we have NEVER stuck our camera in front of someone else while trying to get the perfect picture.
It wouldn't matter the type of equipment being used, there will always be people who think it's A-okay to do that.
:confused3

The thing with iPads that I've experienced is, if at a parade and a dad puts a kid in his shoulders they tend to stand still. The people with iPads (that I've experienced) are moving it around. So every time I move they move lol. While yes it's not the end of the world, it is quite annoying. What's wrong with using an iPhone? And regular camera? A hand held video recording? An iPad can be quite a distraction.

Yeah I don't get it. No way I would walk around with an Ipad. I don't get it, i don't get it at all.

Like someone else said just use your iphone much easier to hold. What I do like about using the Ipad is with taking photos. I have an adapter that I can hook to my DSLR and I like viewing the shot I am going to take but would not walk around the parks with it.
