I hate GMAIL

I know that hate is a strong word but... I can not stand GMAIL right now.. I login and have to clear 25 spam messages that go into my inbox. . And yes I do have a spam/bulk message folder. I have almost 2000 in my bulk messages. I just do not know what to do. And I have not signed up for any random sites or anything like that.. It bugs me!

I have never had 1 spam in my account.....are you on a PC? I think gmail runs best with a Mac.

Doesn't gmail let you adjust your spam filters? You may have yours set at Low (which lets more messages through and only filters out the blatant stuff).

Somebody with gmail can probably point you right to the way to turn up your spam-filtering settings. To start with, when you log in, look for a clickable that says OPTIONS or SETTINGS and poke around there.

I signed up for an account with Gmail about a year ago when I was purchasing something that gave an additional discount if you had an account. I have since bought two other items using that account. I have NEVER sent a single email from that account or given out the Gmail address to anyone except buy.com (which is where I made the three purchases from).

I get HUNDREDS of spam on that account. Most are for Viagra! They do all go into the spam account but it still ticks me off. I would never use Gmail for my primary account. I do have a PC, FWIW.

Click on the box outside of the message, and then click on the button that says they are spam. This should take care of it.

I have an account with Charter and they are suppose to take care of spam, but I've been getting a lot of "enhancements" spam lately. I hate that I get it in my most important e-mail account.

I just had to close my most important email account for the same reason. I'm convinced that no matter who provides your email account, you'll eventually get the same nonsense emails. Honestly, I myself have no need for viagra.

It doesn't matter if you view the gmail website from a mac or a PC.

I get a few spams in my gmail account. I think that they just stick "@gmail.com" onto the end of previously harvested email addresses. So, if you have emailaccount@yahoo.com and it's ful of spam it won't be long before you have a bunch of spam at emailaccount@gmail.com .

flipturngirl, you should first clear out the spam that you already have. Open up the folder and click on "Delete All Spam Messages Now" at the top of the folder to get rid of them all. Then, you can keep up with them easier. You can also train the spam filters by clicking on a spam and telling gmail that it really is spam. If it gets really bad, then open up another gmail account and migrate your good things over to the new account and abandon the old one (or close it, I guess).

I like my gmail account. My hotmail account gets TONS of spam....but I use this address when I sign up for something or purchase something online. My gmail account is for personal correspondence, My work account is for work and I have a school account....for school! I never get spam in these

I have had my hotmail account since '97 and have always used that as my give away address...so I'm not surprised it has so much junk in it.

I always mark the junk mail as spam to help the companies know what addresses are sending the junk.

I never get any spam in my gmail account - I'm amazed, I would have told anyone that it was the best email account for filtering spam no question.

My gmail account does have a different username@gmail.com than my other email account, though... maybe that is it?

As are mine - however I never ever ever use my gmail account for anything but emailing. When I buy anything, order anything, any email lists - anything else, I use my yahoo account.

It's imperative people understand not to use your 'real' account for ANYTHING, even legitimate ordering etc.

I have had my Gmail account since 2004 and have had a grand total in all of that time of one spam message in my inbox. I use the web interface and don't pull the mail with POP3 or IMAP. It shouldn't matter because the Spam filter Gmail uses is Internet facing instead of client facing so the routing of spam is handled before the delivery protocol is determined.

How would using a Mac be different than Windows in determining where the spam goes? If you are using the web to access the account the device it is on has nothing to do with what it displayed. The browser will show slightly different formats because of slight rendering differences but the underlying OS should have no bearing on what is in what folder.
