I've had so many issues with Citizens Bank its not even funny.

I've had to replace my card at least 4 times (demagnetization, wrong expiration date printed, wrong name...)

I go to the ATM the other day and it says my card is deactivated. I go to the teller and ask why and he said, "You'll be sent a new card, a large number of card numbers were released and as a precaution, we cancelled a large number of cards."

Thanks for the warning! No mail, no email,no notice on my online banking account, nothing.

THEN I find out, the last transaction I did was buy gas at a full serve gas station. I filled my tank and it was $45.67 I had $45 in my account the card was tied too and I Overdrafted .67 cents.

I go home to transfer funds to cover the over draft and NOT EVEN an hour later, I have an insufficent funds fee for $38 dollars, then I transfer enough funds to cover that as well, and I refresh the page and have ANOTHER charge for insufficent funds for $78 dollars!

So now I'm out $116 (all disney savings too!) and my card doesn't work.

I've tried to contact Citizens Bank but everytime I call the Manager conviently busy or off that day.

I don't know what to do. I overdrafted by .67 cents and it was the first time I ever overdrafted. I feel like in the span of a half hour, $116 of charges for .67 cents is REDICULOUS and I shouldn't have to deal with it.

What should I do? If I hadn't been charged $116, I wouldn't be worrying about the last few things to pay for my trip, I would be all paid off right now!:headache:

Urg, I don't know what to do :confused3

Have you spoken to anyone in customer service about the overdraft fees yet? They may be able to help you without spending all that time trying to catch the manager. If they can't, don't waste any more time with them and speak to the manager (or set up an appointment if they're not in).
It sounds from your post like you were short more than .67, there must have been another charge out there besides the gas. I would think that they would waive the overdraft fee for the .67, but I'm afraid the second overdraft is what's going to hurt your case. Possibly, if you tell them all the problems you've had with your ATM and with it being your first overdraft they may agree to waive at least ONE or both of the fees. I'm sorry this happened to you and hope everything works out for you.

Change banks to one that processes credits before debits and open overdraft protection with it. It isn't easy to find a bank that processes transactions that way - that is a great source of revenue to do it the other way. And don't even try 5/3 - they are even worse. It is strange that they would charge you when the authorization hit your account and not when the transaction posted. That usually takes 24 hours.

My bank charges $4 to transfer OD to my checking. Much better than the standard $38 fee. Even if you don't change banks, get OD protection. You can try complaining to the manager at the branch you bank at. Some would reverse the charges, some won't. I wouldn't bother with customer service - you are just a voice on the other end of the phone. Go to the manager where you are a customer, face to face.

I know people who have had a direct deposit coming in and a charge beat it to their account. The bank processed the debit first and then deposited their dd while assesing them massive od fees.

You used to have "float" time when you wrote a check or used your debit card. I'm afraid those days are history. Now you have to make sure the funds are there and available before you spend it. And I agree with the pp, overdraft protection of some sort is almost a necessity. Even if an overdraft is an error, it's alot easier to fix if it's just overdraft fees. Nothing worse than having your checks bounce all over town and having to get letters explaining the error and on and on and on.

We have been customers at Citizens for about 6 or 7 years now and have had no problems.

Our accounts are set up w/ overdraft protection from our savings account...it works automatically and we are never charged a fee for it at all.

Maybe you need to check the options you have on your accounts?
