I was speaking to someone today who went to disneyland last year and went for the halloween party on 31st October.

She said in her opinion it was not appropriate for kids, there were people dressed up as freddy kruger, people running round chasing others with fake chainsaws it was all quite dramatic and they found it extremely difficult to get out of the park as it was so crowded and gates were shut.

Her kids were around8 years old.

Just thought I would mention it, I have no experience of it but people who are considering it with young kids might want to know.

yeah that does sound a bit extreme, looks like the mnsshp are a good idea so.

I went 2 years ago and whilst I loved the experience it was chaos. Far more adults than children - a rugby scrum for all the rides and the ghost ship parade. Whilst I wouldn't want to put anyone off it is very very busy and our little one with us who was 5 at the time was fed up by mid evening.

I must admit although the halloween decor look good and alot of work put into it, it does look very scary !! My 5 yr old saw a site I was on last week, that showed photos from Halloween at Disneyland and he said Mummy I dont like that !! LOL!!!

Well done Mummy for booking Christmas instead :rotfl:

Can't say about the actual Halloween party - but I can see where they are coming from. I think a lot of adults would go rather than kids tbh and yes, they may have extreme clothes on etc. Maybe a lot of local 20 somethings go too - I probably would if it were on my doorstep. I've heard a lot of them use the village/nightclub at weekends too.

Re the decs. I was worried sick about my DD1 (she's 3.5 years) and before we went saw the website and said she was scared of the 'pumpkin men'!! I really expected a lot of probs as she's at that age where her imagination runs wild. Anyway, when we were there last week every day there were more and more decs up and by the end she was playing spot the new decs with her Daddy. I think because they are put around the place quite cleverly and in a funny way they don't really look too scary. She certainly didn't seem bothered by them at all and we just made lighthearted comments about them - phew! I'm pretty sure by the time we left on Thursday they were all up. Frontierland was in 'full glory'!! :)

I think for us it was just the volume of people - we always go out of season to the park so either just as halloween starts or early jan as xmas finishes and we'd no comprehension of how busy it would be.

The queues to get in were badly managed too (no real queue just a large crowd surging as they took you right round the side of the DH towards the studios).

As I say though we saw some fab stuff including people dressed as the Scooby Doo gang carrying a huge cardboard mock of up the mystery machine, some fab Nightmare before Christmas outfits and a couple of Jack Sparrows (ding dong!)

I'm hoping our little one will be ok when we go. I've started her Halloween training early and she's currently watching a Pooh Halloween dvd ;) We are going for the mnsshp so I'm hoping it will be a bit better managed than what you've described but I think if I was younger and lived close by I would be there for halloween too !!!

Definitely going to go for xmas next year, having had a look at the DLP website for xmas this year it looks just fab and so many changes from when we last went at xmas time ! I'm wishing next year away already :)

I think because there are more of the mickey parties in the lead up to Halloween they may not be quite as busy as the evening of the 31st.
