today at lunch there was french fries, and also mgravy (for turkey or something) so i put mozzerella cheese on my fries, and covered it with gravy. i don't think it was much like authentic poutine, but it wasn't half bad. :)

There is a Spainish dish made almost the same way no cheese, and beef gravy and stuff in the gravy I think onion and peppers do you happen to know the name of it. I would like to make it , but don't have a clue as to what the name is?

Well, SPAGo, fake poutine is better than no poutine al all, right? You just can't get it good anywhere outside of Quebec. :(

Spago, if you go to the Diner and order "Disco Fries" you get French Fries with melted mozzarella and brown gravy.

There's a restaraunt in Calgary that serves a mean Poutine :)

Again the question is asked, "WHAT'S POUTINE?!?!"

Eeewww!! Cheese curds? That does not sound okay. Who thinks up this stuff? Now, I love diner french fries and good gravy (not sausage gravy, but beef gravy), but I just don't think I could do cheese curds, sorry.

Glad you enjoyed your meal, Hes.

I so think I am making that tonight... that sounds delicious... I just have to remember not to eat the rest of the day... because it sounds like alot of calories... LOL

Yay, I had fake poutine once (mine was fake because it was veggie gravy) and didn't care for the gravy part.. my favorite french fry concoction is the cheese fries with spicy ranch dressing at Outback Steakhouse. We even found an Outback here in New York and ate them last Saturday.. they're my once a year indulgence. :p

cheese curds? This does not sound appealing to me! I have heard of fries with chili and or cheese but this sounds strange. curds?? Eww... Give me plain old ketchup anyday. Ranch is tasty too!

Cheese CURD? Okay the new question is what exactly is a cheese CURD and what kind of cheese is the CURD made out of. Blue Cheese dressing kind of cheese comes to mind.

Humm I like my fries with Chili and Cheese or ketchup and every now and then mayo mixed with the ketchup but CURDS! I don't even know about gravy......

Mmmm poutine is awesome!! Only in Canada is it really good though!! They use the large Cheese Curds, canadian style...Omg, it is so yummy!!!!

When you make cheese, curd is formed during the mixing process and becomes the cheese that you eat. It all starts out as liquid, then as it is stirred it starts to solidify -- the curd. At this point it looks like little chunks of cheese floating in soup (whey). The curds are removed from the whey, drained, placed into molds (or handformed), pressed to squeeze out more whey and they form the cheese wheel. Then it's aged before market.

Have you ever broken up colby cheese by hand and noticed it's all bumpy? That's the pressed curd. It's just cheese before it is formed. Cottage cheese is little bitty curd.

I like going to the cheese shop and buying bags of curd. It's good for snacking. Poutine sounds great. I think someone needs to post a recipe.

So its cheddar cheese? That sounds really good then! I would like to try it..

ask and you shall receive.. a DISNEY version even :)

Take a desired amount of hot French Fries and drizzle a desired amount of your favorite gravy over the top of the fries. Place cheese on top of gravy and place in oven shortly, just untill it melts. ENJOY!!
