I had a MAGICAL and TERRIBLE TRIP!

I kept telling my family there is Magic in Disney, and was SO HAPPY when we got to experience some of it ourselves! After a few days the believed in Disney Magic too!

First of all I left it up to fate, on the room location at POP, and was quite satisfied with the location of the room!

Then while in MGM we were chosed to be the family of the day! We got to sign an autograph book, get a certificate, and a free 5X7! We LOVED that!

While we were waiting to go on Aerosmith doing the baby swap my son (2) was looking at his pins, and a CM working the fastpass at the ride was talking to him, he was telling her about his pins while I was putting locking backs on them. I mentioned he had already lost one, and that's why I was putting the backs on. She asked him what kind it was, and went off (it was a Mickey) while she was walking away he yelled to her showing her his BUZZ pin (he LOVES BUZZ). The CM came back with 2 brand new on the card pins MICKEY, and BUZZ! I couldn't believe it! My son was so HAPPY! I couldn't thank her enough!

I also gave out as much MAGIC as I could! I told everyone with a birthday hat or badge Happy Birthday (I must have seemed a NUT!) I gave up my seat on the bus on EMH night for a little girl who was whining! I also bought dinner for a guy on our last night (free dining). I figured I should have good Karma!

Then it started to go BAD! The service at Le Cellieur was TERRIBLE! We ended up getting our dessert to go.

At Sci Fi Diner we used our dining plan, but bought the glow in the dark cubes for the 3 kids seperate, and paid for 1 of the kids meals (DS 2 wasn't on the plan) and the waitress automatically added on an 18% tip onto the bill. It was so dark I didn't notice it, but I did see a card she had put in stating tip wasn't included, so I left her $5 for a $28 bill. When I got back to the resort I saw that she had also included the 18% tip, making it like a $10 tip for a $23 meal! I tried to just blow it off, but the more I thought about it I just got upset. I figured this is my vacation FORGET IT, but in the end I went to the Concierge, and they gave me a refund of the 18% she added on. I was reading, and it says for parties of 8 or more they add and 18% tip, we DID NOT have 8 people. I figure she didn't think she would get a tip on the cash portion because we were using the Dining plan for the rest so she added on the tip to make sure she got a tip for the cash portion also.

When we went to Nine Dragons the server was VERY RUDE! He was upset because my son had a Mickey Bar all over his shirt (you know how fast they melt) and he thought it was soy sauce. He started getting after my DS who is 2, and then at me. I politely explained to him it was chocolate, but he just gave me a dirty look, and moved the soy sauce away. We ordered cokes, and he brought diet. He was rude, and insisted it was regular, but it wasn't. I finally just said can you please bring us new drinks, which he did. After we were done eating he says YOU DONE! I said could we have dessert please? FINE! I said do you have a menu we could look at? He said you can have cheesecake. I asked what kind of cheesecake, and he said cheesecake. I asked if there was anything else, he said NO! So I asked what my DD could get for desert, and he said redbean icecream, I asked if there was anything else. NO! Meanwhile I saw MANY other tables with wonderful looking deserts, so I guess my point is

And finally I fell on the paint at MGM (it's VERY SLIPPERY when it rains), and broke my knee cap.

ALL in all it was a WONDERFUL vacation! We enjoyed the waterparks, and our trips to Cocoa Beach, and Clearwater almost as much as the parks. We were there for 12 days, and about the last 5 the lines were getting terrible! So were were glad for the break. I was thinking I was moused out by the time we left, but now that we are home I CAN"T WAIT TO GO AGAIN LOL!

ow! Broken knee cap does not sound fun!

Sorry you had problems with service at a few places. We love the food and atmosphere of Nine Dragons but we have never had good service there. It makes DH nuts. He doesn't want to go because of that but yet we always end up there since even the kids eat really good there.

Glad you didn't let that stuff ruin your trip!

Yeah the food was good, but it was hard to enjoy with Mr. Grumpy pants glaring at me LOL! My DD's Sweet and Sour chicked was TO DIE FOR! I would Love an order right now LOL!

Sorry you had bad service at Le Cellier. I was there last week and had wonderful service as did the three other tables I was sitting near. I was in the section closest to the reservation desk...New Brunswick I believe...if that is where the Bay of Fundy is located, lol. Glad you are looking forward to your next Disney tip despite a broken kneecap. Did Disney come to your aid when that happened?

This will sound incredibly wrong, but I find that the servers at all Chinese restaurants are rude. I just suck it up to them not speaking very good english.

You want to try some of the chinese restaurants in London around Soho if you want rude! :rotfl:

I don't think its intentional - if you overhear people talking in Chinese it can sound very agressive, but if someone translates it turns out they are saying happy birthday or something. Its just the sounds are different to Western ears I think.

I have to to agree! I just had a bad experience at an excellent high end Chinese Rest. I had taken a colleague oout to lunch and she wanted to go Chinese...so off we went to this high end place. We ordered an appetizer to share and each had a lunch special. Well wouldn't you know it everything came out all at once. I hate when that happens. Before we had even taken a bite we had the check. Know how did he know that we weren't going to order anything else? This is one of the many I have had.

No when I fell noone from Disney offered to help. There was a group of people behind me which were VERY helpful, and helped me off the ground, they saw I could hardly walk, and offered to get me a wheelchair, but at that time I thought it was just a very bad scrape, and was embarressed for falling in the first place.

So sorry you broke your knee cap...I hope you are on the mend soon. You have a very positive outlook..that would have ruined my trip. :sunny:

OMG - that happened to ME!!

I was going to avoid the internet - esp the DIs, because we too had a lot of magic, but I felt so responsible for the trip for my parents, and I felt anything that could go wrong did - (including a tropical storm Tammy popping up outta nowhere, cancelling my dad's Petty Driving experience!!)

Well, we were at MGM< I thought I could get a frozen lemonade my dad, and mom were having such problems with the heat - I sat them down, then as I came back in - slipped on that white line, and sprained both my ankles!!

All I can say is, I'm so glad its over!! I did rent an ecv for our last day - and that helped tremendously!!

I am so sorry you broke your knee cap...I hope it heals soon! I am glad that you didn't let it get you down and still plan to go back!

We had fabulous service at Le Cellier, but not so great at Mama Melrose's. We are going back in May, and Mama's won't be on the list of places to eat!

My husband got very sick at Disney a couple years back and Disney sent an ambulance and the works...all for FREE. Make a call to guest services, maybe they can comp you on your next trip.

WOW we should both let someone know about that paint so it doesn't happen to someone else. Who would I even call?

So sorry about the broken kneecap (my knee is hurting in sympathy for you :) ). Back when they had the Food 'n Fun program, some of the waiters would be really rude and obnoxious because they knew they got their 15% tip, no matter what. It seems, from some of the posts, that the same thing happens to folks on the Dining Plan.

Hope your next trip has more of the good Karma.

Sharon

I am so sorry to hear about your knee! I hope you are up and about soon.

Sorry you broke your kneecap, I do hope since you broke it, it was at least at the end of your trip. Glad most of everything else was wonderful!

I am so sorry about your knee and that horrible waiter.
But I am so glad you enjoyed the rest of your trip!

I had to chuckle when I read this part about the cokes. The first thing that came to my mind was an old joke I heard when I was a kid. I'm sure it would be politically incorrect to share it on here but I was just wondering if I was the only sick puppy who remembered that joke from reading this post.

Yep... Bay of Fundy is in the province of New Brunswick. :sunny:
