I guess the cast of Jersey Shore isn't white enough for A & F

And I wouldn't say it's a mob. A thread where most people disagree with you does not equal a mob.
Though I agree with you here, there are many on the DIS who wouldn't. :rotfl:

So far, I'll just say I really don't think my criticism can be racist if I'm actually a Caucasian criticizing a company that is focused on an very particular affluent Caucasian demographic especially since the same company has a substantial history of offending other groups (like the poor girl in London with a prosthetic arm).

Huh? :confused: While I've always thought the majority of the cast of Jersey Shore was caucasian, you seemed to state otherwise, claiming that A&F was being racist for not wanting their "painfully white" products featured on the show. You even said "you" were uninvited from purchasing their products, apparently because you are part of this non-caucasian "race" featured on Jersey Shore.

But now you say you are caucasian enough to be able to criticize A&F for it's whiteness without being racist. :confused:

So, while I agree with tlbwriter that you are confused about what racism is, I also wonder how you seem to be able to switch "races" so quickly.

anyone else completely confused:confused3:confused::confused3

Nope, we all are, except for the OP, who seems oblivious to the fact that what she said was offensive to quite a lot of people here and painfully white makes no sense whatsoever. Somehow being completely wrong and having everyone here telling you so, is an angry mob. I don't understand that logic and how is digging in your heels and refusing to see what you said as wrong, going to help your case?:confused3

I thought posting your opinion on a very public message board meant that you should be aware that others will comment on what you say and quite possibly wont agree with you. Especially if it's topic concerning race and stereotyping. Am I correct or am I missing how the internet works?:confused3

:lmao::lmao:

Actually, my mom is Italian and my dad is not, so I'm not even sure what I am anymore.

My Mom is German, and My Dad's from Jersey. I'm not orange, but I tan well. I don't know what the heck I am either. :rotfl: Can I not buy A&F because I'm half Jerseian? Jerseyite?

Oh, wait! I'm irritated and offended by the "painfully white" comment.

I still think it's Snookie and she has hijacked LuvOrlando's username.
That's the only logical explanation I can think of.
I mean, saying that A&F is racist because they don't want the Jersey Shore cast wearing their shirts while they yak up breakfast and "smush" every bimbo in town, and that because of said racism (against the orange??) America at large is so enraged that it actually made their stock take a dive????? AND somehow all of this also means they don't want ANYONE who goes to the Jersey shore or used to go there to buy their stuff?

I smell fake tan and Aquanet....

I think someone else has been smelling too much Aquanet! :laughing: Also, someone should call Wall Street and let them know the reason stocks took a dive is because of A&F.

So what are Italians then? UNCOMFORTABLY Caucasian? :lmao:

My background is all British Isles. I must be excruciatingly Caucasian. :rotfl:

Well if you are a sharp sudden white then you might be acutely white, but if you've been white a long time then you would be chronically white.

And some people are just absurdly white.

LOL, a company with a history of raunchy advertising, racism, and discrimination is worried that some "offensive" reality TV characters are wearing their clothing?? Give me a break.

My sentiments exactly.

WOW, 7 pages and from what I've read it's gonna be a good 7 pages, I just don't have the time to read it all now.

Still, I love a good mob so I'll be back later today with some cookies & milk to see what the masses are saying. Who needs TV

Hahahahahahaha! You crack me up LuvOrlando. You are the kind of person who likes to throw rocks at a bees nest when someone else is standing beside it - aren't you? :lmao: :rotfl2:

I'm not going to lie, I only read the first page of this thread, so who knows what's been said already, but...

As an Italian (and a New Yorker who now lives in New Jersey), I can say Jersey Shore doesn't bother me at all. Saying that Jersey Shore embarrasses Italians is ridiculous. There are people who act like idiots in every nationality, and every region of the world. No one's behavior is going to make me feel embarrassed to be Italian. I don't care what they do -- that doesn't change my pride in my nationality.

And as for A&F -- their clothes are overpriced and this is just yet another publicity stunt. That's the only kind of advertising they do.

News Flash!!!! This just in!!!

Kraft Macaroni and Cheese is changing it's formula because they find that being the same 'painfully orange' color as the cast of the JS is hurting their image.
