I went to the Fleetwood website to see what's new in their product lines. When I clicked on the link to travel trailers, I received this message...

"Thank you for your interest in Fleetwood Travel Trailers. On March 9, 2009, Fleetwood made the decision to exit the travel trailer business. While we will no longer produce new travel trailer products, several Fleetwood dealers still have a variety of our travel trailers and fifth wheels available for purchase. Please feel free to use this website to research our entire product line and to locate a Fleetwood dealer near you."

I had heard rumors of the TT division closing after Berkshire Hathaway bought Fleetwood, but dang.... that happened almost before the ink dried on the contract!!

Sad, I've always seen good products from Fleetwood. Anything with quality will no longer be made. I hate this stinking economy. It sucks.

Our first travel trailer was a Fleetwood Pioneer. All in all I would say it was average quality.

If things continue as they are, we will start seeing RV's with "Made in China" on them.

I was shocked the other day at THD when a guy bought some metal fence posts and the bar code sticker had "Made in Vietnam" on it.:scared1:

I frequent another forum that has a member that hauls RV's for a living. He posts regularly about his experiences and posts some fascinating pics. Based on what he has said the Manufacturers all had way more capacity than they need in this market and what you are seeing is a response to that. Fleetwood did not wnat to compete for the small share of RV's so they got out of the business and focused on their other areas. Although I cant recall specifically the name, several RV builders have bought each other up or combined forces.
