Our elementary school had the recognition ceremony today. It is mostly for the 5th graders, and my DD#2 is in that class. She got the Presidential Academic Fitness award! She has had straight As for 6 quarters running. She was also voted "most likely to be a lawyer" by her own class for their "silly" awards.
The only downside is that she went home early one day in 3 years last month, and what day did they take the big group 5th grade picture that went in everyone's certificate? You guessed it. Oh well. I hope they remember her for other things! Plus, in all honesty, in a few years no one will care about 5th grade (I know because DD#1 is graduating from 8th grade tomorrow--who knows where her 5th grade thing is!).
BUT, I am framing the academic fitness thing. We are very, very proud of her!
PS--she AND my DS (2nd grade) got certificates for commendable attendance--she missed that 1/2 day, he missed 1 1/2 days.
