So excited...just got the email to say we were successful in the Gallipoli ballot for the centenary celebrations in Turkey for Anzac Day 2015:cool1:
But even more good news.... Not only was I successful in obtaining a double pass, but my DH was as well!!!! Our friends weren't successful so it means I can give my spare ticket to me friend and DH can give his spare ticket to my friends DH:woohoo:
Feeling some pixie dust pixiedust:was thrown my way

There were 3000 double passes awarded and over 40000 applications!!

That is so exciting, congrats! I really wanted to do that but knew that the bank balance would be empty after this upcoming trip.

Its so good that you will also be able to attend with good friends.:thumbsup2

Congratulations, that is so exciting! How fortunate that you both were successful! Can't wait to see your plans.

:cool1: Congrats that's awesome and so exciting :cool1:

:wave2: I'll wave to you from the ship ;)

Congrats, that's so exciting!

Have you been before? Gallipoli is amazing even at non-ANZAC day times so I can only imagine it at that time of year. We would have loved to go next year but alas money doesn't allow us to (DH is in the army so it's extra special to us too I suppose and I'm so happy to hear so many peope applying wanting to go!).

Thanks guys, knew I could share my excitement here.:goodvibes
Got the eye rolls at work when I found out:rolleyes2

This is something we spoke about for years, when we found out there would be ballot, I was upset, thinking we didn't have a chance.
We have been planning this for a while, so we have a basic idea of what we want to do.
As part of the ballot, we were told we have to be part of an organised tour, but will need to wait for the official information to come.
As some of you know we have planned to go to Lapland to see the northern lights in March for our 25th wedding anniversary, we will then do something in Europe for a week or two before heading to Turkey.
We are hoping to book flights with FF points which will be available next week:thumbsup2 I have quickly looked for our friends who are booking using qantas points ( we will fly singapore) and there were flights available today for the dates I was planning on, so a quick phone call with them tonight and they have booked their flights tonight:scared1: we have no real plans except for a departure date and now they have flights:cool1:
This is all a bit overwhelming with us going away next week, and booking flights for next year while I'm still finalising this years holiday!! But hey there is worse things I could be doing:banana:
WAMUMOF4:wave2:right back at you!!!

Congrats, that's so exciting!

We have never been Mindy, has always been our 2015 trip plan for at least 10years. I was at the war memorial in Canberra a few weeks ago, going through there made me realise how much I really want to go. Everyone I know that's been says it is amazing. Your DH deserves a free trip courtesy of the Aussie government:goodvibes

I have been , it is pretty amazing.
The Turkish people were wonderful , one of my favourite places along with Greece.:)

Awesome gogo, that's great news.

And congrats on your upcoming 25th anniversary. I'm extra envious of the trip to Lapland. I would love to go there one day. :)

The Australian War Memorial is my favourite place in Canberra. When the kids were little I would drag them there all the time.

OMG congrats Gogo! How exciting :cool1:

You might have pushed my aunty out though :rotfl: She's not a happy chappy at the moment!

Oh please don't tell me I will have another new favourite country:lmao:

Lisa I still haven't finished my last trip report,:confused3 maybe I'll make the effort to do just the Gallipoli part, otherwise there will be no hope:lmao:

Wanderlust maybe a photo or two from the northern lights in a one post trip report will make you even more jealous! Thanks for the congratulations on the 25th, we only just had our 24 th, so still a year away but it all just blends into one now:rotfl2:

Tash I hadn't been to the war memorial for a loooong time, we spent hours there wandering around, our upcoming trip we are doing a private day tour of the Somme region in France, so it was great reading all about it knowing I'll be there in a few weeks, however the Gallipoli section made me want those golden tickets in the ballot even more.

Zanzibar please don't tell your aunty both my DH and I were successful, so we got 4 tickets, she won't like me:scared1:
