I got the call!!!

Just got back from an extended family stay at Vwl. Stayed in a 2 bedroom and a 1 bedroom. The phone never rang all week long until day of check out and boom 8:22am the phone rang, no one on the other end. We were already up, so that didn't matter, and as soon as it rang, I knew it was the check out ghost. I checked with family in the 1 bedroom and they got the call too.

Maybe it's the call back to reality. Kind of trivial, but it does tick you off a little.

We have in the past but last few trips we have not. We have been putting the do not disturb sign on the door the last night just to let them know we are still in the room and I always call to let them know we are leaving so they can have the room to clean. I wonder if they are in question when they do not see the sign? Another thought is if a maid gets there and has no rooms that they know of, then they call a few rooms to try and find a starting point for the day. We didn't always put the sign out but I don't recall any calls since we started doing this. Sorry you got "the call". The last thing you want at the end is a call to remind you it's time to leave Disney

The last 2 times we stayed at OKW we did not have a "do not disturb" sign for our door. Maybe they get blown off. Anyway, when we were there in May the housekeeper was knocking on the door at 8:30am asking when we planned to leave.

I know at BWV we leave the sign out, sometimes we get a call (hangup), sometimes not, but the bellman always turns the sign around to "housekeeping please" as we exit. I wish they would not hangup, I wouldn't mind them just saying "about what time do you plan to leave so we can schedule your room for cleaning?" rather than a rude hangup.

I have noticed the housekeeping behaviour to be different at DVC as opposed to (at least) the Deluxe Resorts

From the threads, and my stay at OKW, it seems like housekeeping is in a rush - understaffed?, want to finish work early?, want to get people checked in early?.....other reasons?

At CR and WL, we have never had this ghost ring, knock on door etc.....

Odd.....I will be putting my DND sign out last day from now on
