I got the 2007 Unofficial Guide to Disney today! However, I have no idea, do these books come out yearly? We are going in May 2008, should I have waited for a 2008 book? (oh heck, I couldn't wait! LOL) Does a ton of stuff/info change year to year or am I going to be okay with this one?

Now you should read it, absorb the info, and start thinking about your plans.
There is not a ton of difference from one year to the next. The 08 edition will be out around September 07. If you have the gist of the book, you can probably incorporate any major changes from info here on the boards. The UG is informative and a lot of fun(if you have a sense of humor). I haven't needed a guide for many years (30+ WDW visits) but I still purchase and read the updates just for fun, and for their perspective.:earsboy:

Thanks Micca! I do have a sense of humor and parts are quite funny! I am surprised to learn that the book recommends shying away from package deals.

LOL byoung! I will. I am hoping to get my mom too as well, to take some of the pressure of planning off of me!

There is not much difference in the books from one year to the next. You can get updates from the website. Anything new will be posted there. Have fun reading and planning your trip.

I have not got a book yet. Is there a difference in the "Unofficial Guide to Disney" and the "Official Guide to Disney". Are they about the same? We are going in October and I can not wait.

Is there a difference in the "Unofficial Guide to Disney" and the "Official Guide to Disney"?

The most obvious difference is that the Birnbaum's WDW guide is 263 pages and the Unofficial Guide to WDW is 818 pages! But they are both good books. I usually buy both every year and donate the prior year's books to the local library. I just love to spread the magic!

You might be overwhelmed by the amount of information in the Unofficial Guide but the touring plans alone are worth the price of the book especially for a first time visitor.

Have a wonderful trip to WDW.

I have been to WDW about 20 times and I still get Unofficial Guide every year, plus this time I used Passporter, also.

I bought the Unofficial Guide//Birnbaum's//Passporter---all 2007. We are planning on going June 2008. I will probably buy the 2008 Passporter.
I love to read all of them.

We bought the Unofficial Guide after we made our arrangements. That being said we looked at our resort(WL) all the plus and minuses. We read the restaurant reviews, character meals and touring plans. The most pleasant surprises were the "Planning Before you Leave Home" and "Walt Disney World With Kids" - we have 2DDsprincess: princess: 6 and 4.Those sections really helped us prepare.LOL

Thank you..I will check our local bookstore again. There are some wonderful tips and ideas everone has to offer. I know we will have a wonderful time.

Glad you got the book, I have read mine from cover to cover...

Maybe you won't be like the people I was standing with in the Great Movie Ride line, this is what they were saying...Is this a ride? (commenting on the preshow) if it's just watching movies I am not going to like this let's go!

Is this a ride? They had no idea what they were in line for?:confused3

dmthoma- that would be me!! LOL

Wondering if someone could tell me something specific that's in the UG. I have never seen the UG. I need to get out and take a look at one maybe at our library.

The UGs do come out yearly. The 2008 edition comes out on August 20, 2007. The front cover has a picture of Splash Mountain. The 2008 edition will be 832 pages and its retail price is $19.99.
