I got "pinned"!!:)

Last night I did want another board member suggested and simply called the Disney Reservations and simply asked if I had any pins assigned to my name. Figuring this wasn't going to go anywhere I was preparing to ask if and when the June codes would be out. We've already booked our flight and were looking to stay the 13th through the 16th. The agent (Her name was Nevada and if you get her on the phone consider yourself lucky) asked me a few standard questions and did inform me that I DID have a pin assigned to my name and which resort was I intereseted in. For me and the dates that I had selected, and only interested in Moderate or Deluxe she gave me the options of CBR or POFQ for Moderate ($79 a night) or AKL or Wilderness Lodge for the Deluxe. Kind of jokingly, knowing that the WL was going at $239 a night asked what my discounted rate would be. As soon as she said $124 plus tax per night, I quoted my favorite line from "Hawaii 5-0" - "Book it Dann-o" Even though her name is Nevada.

So I could have booked through the Disney online at the CBR for $498.42, but because I simple called and asked about the "pin" I got the WL for $414.78.

Obviously my advice would be; "All it'll cost you is a phone call!"

That is great. I am so happy to see good room discounts are still out there. $124- really good!
 
darn...I just called and no pin for me :sad1:
I wish I could get an email or postcard discount! I did get an email a couple of weeks ago, but no pin code where others received the same email (your vacation planning kit is on it's way etc) and got pin codes.

Don't mind me...just feeling a little jealous ;)
 

I just checked for me. Nope. Oh well. Just an FYI the go by household. After she told me no I asked if maybe under DH, but no it goes by household.

I'm sure that there are more qualified people who no more about the pin system than me, but I'll try.

From what I gather, Disney sends out emails and snail mail to a random number of people with discounted rates available. These mailings come with a "pin" number which probably like your bank card identifies it as to who you are.

You call Reservations give them you info and the pi # number you received and voila - discount.

What I did was what someone suggested was call ressie ans simply asked if I had a pin # associated with my name. The agent (her name was Nevada and was exceleent) asked for name and zip. She had my address and my wife's name and DOB's (we have stayed on site before) and she said "Yes, I do show a pin with your name - which resorts would you like me to try?" Having stayed at ASMu, and wanting to have a few more perks I inquired about any Moderate or Deluxe for the days we were going to be there.(June13-16).

She told me she had CR and POFQ at the moderate (quoted me $79/nt with the discount) and AKL and WL as the Deluxes. I really didn't have any intention staying at the deluxe figuring it would be out of my price range but when she said $124/nt...............how could I refuse.

My suggestion to you is simply call and play dumb and ask if you've got a pin # associated with your name. The WORST thing that can happen is they say no. You could be surprised (especially if your booking way out) what they may do for you.

The agent that I talked to this morning told me that the pin that I had expired two years ago. I didn't even know that I had one!!!! Man!!!
 
inspired by your post i just called disney... after repeatedly explaining to "linus" what i was looking for and him telling me that his screen would not show that, i have to give them the pin number and they put it in, and me telling him no, if there is one associated w/my name/household/profile it would appear in his computer, he finally agreed to look for me, but NO LUCK! oh, well... i'll keep trying!
 
I, also inspired by your post, called to see if we were so lucky...but no. :sad2: They didn't have all of our information (despite the fact that we gave it to them when making our reservations for last year's trip), so the CM, Tenia (very nice and patient) made sure that they had our correct info (street address and e-mail addresses, etc.) and the stats for the family. Maybe now that Disney has all of our "updated" info, we might be the lucky recipients of a pin soon! :hourglass
 
Would you just call the normal ressie number to see if you've been pinned? Planning a May trip and trying to pinch pennies where I can. :confused3 Thanks!
 
That's all I did. I called 1-407-W-DISNEY and asked at ressie. She asked a couple of basic questions (i.e. address, phone #, last visit, etc.) and sure enough....:)

I have a stupid question I hope someone can help me.

We leave in 133 days for the WL (not soon enough) and I see some/most have a countdown calendar running and I have no idea how to put one up or where to find one but not only do I enjoy the posts, but I like checking out who's going where and when and like to put one up. Hope someone can direct me!!

Thanks so much for this thread! I had no idea you could call and ask. Since we moved a couple of years ago, we haven't received anything from them. So inspired by you guys, I called regarding our reservation and asked. Unfortunately, no discount for me....bummer! I did ask her to wave some pixie dust over my reservation and maybe I could get one in the future. We don't travel till next November. Keeping my fingers crossed! THANKS AGAIN!
 
I called over the weekend also but no luck. Oh well. Hoping they do come out with other codes.
