I got my package yesterday

Well, we got our packet yesterday. We still haven't got our ME packet because we haven't booked our flight yet (we'll be doing that hopefully this weekend... we finally found a good flight at a decent price and the prices have remained the same for 6 days). The bummer is we have been debating the last 2 days if we should still take our trip as I lost my job on Monday. My DBIL is paying for the whole trip as a thank you for everything so if we canceled as others had suggested including my own DMIL it wouldn't be our money that would be lost). When I got my severance I did get my weeks vacation pay so in some ways I guess we can think of it as our normal vacation

Getting the package is starting to make it real, but I guess I'm feeling guilty if i do go. Luckily I am able to collect unemployment and I have been busy applying for jobs (4 so far, but no calls back... did I mention i am a tad impatient???? ). I hate being out of work in a big way, but my friend who also got laid off from the same company took 2 months to find another job so it's very possible that I won't have any bites by the time we leave.

Does it sound like I'm trying to talk myself into going... yeah I thought so .

Your DBIL is paying for the trip as a gift, right? And that was in the works before you lost your job? Then what's the point in cancelling? How would that help your financial status?

Go and have a wonderful time. In the meantime, get those resumes out!!

Sorry to hear about the loss of your job, but a wonderful trip will refresh you and you will be able to look for a job when you get home!
