Okay, don't flame me, but I started this escapade trying to get a code on Monday (two days ago). I ordered vacation package quotes from different agencies found through other Disney friendly websites, as well as held some vacation plans on our acct on the WDW website, updated the profile, etc.. I used different name combinations...my last name is different than my husband's (sometimes used only a first initial, etc.). Also called WDW reservations and chatted the gal up like I didn't know what I was doing with my plans. :rolleyes1 I'm pretty sure the PIN came from tinkering with the WDW website profile.

I just got an e-mail PIN. :) It's the same one as posted in some of the other threads, free dining with 4 night/5 day resv at Value res. & tickets.

Question: sadly the package is not what I'm looking for, we're military, so we want moderate or deluxe hotel with the 40% disc, and we'll get the discounted tickets separately. Can I call WDW resv and barter my 40% room disc and add the free DDP with my PIN?

Any advice before I call? Can I say thanks for the PIN, but I really want something else?

I am sure you can book other resorts besides values. What Disney generally does is give examples of vacations, and may even give pricing for 2 adults and 2 kids. Something along those lines.
There really is no bartering.
Just call and explain this is the pin I have and this is what I would like to book. See what they say.
You will not be able to add free dining on to a 40% code.
And for free dining, you will need to buy a minimum of a one day ticket for each person in your party.

I got the same email PIn for free dining...you can pretty much use them at any hotel...it does not have to be value...I think they just use that as an example...we booked 7 nights at CBR and saved $1,017 with the dining package! Just call them!

The military 40% discount is excellent. As others have said, you have to pick. You can't stack discounts. Whether you use the free dining or the 40%, be sure to run the #'s carefully. One or the other will be a better deal overall, depending on family size and resort/level you choose.

With the free DPP folks have gotten it at all the resorts, but you pay rack rate for the room.

Have you called and started checking on room availability with the military discount code? If not, and you're certain you're going to WDW, I recommend you do it asap. There are fewer rooms as the days go by.
I think the best way to get lots of information is to have several resorts in mind. Ask about different options, levels. Don't know what you're looking for, but there are some CL rooms included in this deal. (There are (or at least were when we were pricing) also a few suites...something very unusual for WDW.)
I tend to start at the WDW site online, calculate the 40% off the quoted rate, and then start my list of possibilities from there--and then pick up the phone. Just because it's available online, doesn't necessarily mean it will be included in the code, but it's a start. Good luck with your plans!!!!!

For us, the deals were so good we decided to celebrate at 29 years rather than wait till our 30th anniversary.

And OP, really no reason to be concerned about flames...lots of nice folks here happy to help.:goodvibes
