hey, I worked at Splash too!! but Iwas in merchandising in the photo shop....I did the CP spring of 04 and loved it. I had a really great time, but know that it is HARD work...you'll possibly have to work crazy hours for little money and will have 6 day weeks during certain weeks. but it's a lot of fun...
I think the Spring semester is the best time to do it too, the parks are slower so you get to ease into it instead of getting thrown into the fire, plus you don't miss any major holidays and you just might get to work Grad nites (the only time you get to be less than extremely pleasant!!)
I am sure everyone had a period of homesickness. But the rest of the time my daughter had a great time on the program. She had a cell phone so when she was feeling lonely or missing the rest of us she would call home.
She also used to torture me by calling from a parade or something else I enjoyed to say she was there enjoying it.
I think you can assume you will be homesick and that first 2-3 weeks may be tough - but after that, with the exception of a holiday/birthday, you will be too busy and having too much fun to be homesick. At least, that was my DDs experiences.
I remember getting the same offer letter a mere 16 years ago, and was so excited! Since the letter came right before the holidays, I had to tell my entire family, "Do not buy me everything Mickey Mouse for Christmas!", and after working the CP that's all I want now! I became totally hooked on Disney, and had the best time of my life there. Don't worry about the homesickness, the time will fly by. And then you'll be trying to get into another internship there! Best of luck in your decision!
Oh, btw, you just can't imagine how beneficial it will be to have Disney on your resume!!
