Normally around this time of the month I start to receive my bills , online, in the mail. And every month I need to tweak my budget. And at times thing a tough.

I received my monthly notice from State Farm Insurance - This is the 1 big bill I hate getting, but It covers everything and everyone in my family, so when I send in my check it makes it sting a little less.

As I was looking a my statement , I had to do a double take. No this can't be right, looked again yep need to call my agent because it's $100 less.

Talking with my agent , he said changed some thing and discounts had changed.

Never had this happen to us before , SO HAPPY :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

I have been with state farm for many years and very happy with them. I make mine in monthly payments. I don't like being hit with a big bill for us. I am happy to hear they gave you a discount. :dance3:

If it is your home insurance make sure your deductible did not increase. There is something that State Farm is doing that you pay a lessor bill but your deductible is higher based on some percentage. Or you keep your deductible the same and pay the bill that was closer to what you are used too.

I recently shopped around my homeowners insurance and almost went with state farm until I realiZed they had the deductible at $4,000 while my other quotes had $1,000 deductibles.

I shop my policies every 1-2 years.

Insurance is about covering unacceptable risks.

Many people are grossly over insured at the low end and grossly underinsured where there is real risk to your assets.

Protection from liability suits, bodily harm and large property losses make real sense. Paying for low cost risks such as glass, towing etc are huge profit centers for the insurance industry.

High deductible polices are very often by far the best choice for consumers with a reasonable asset base they may wish to protect...

I don't have my Home Owners Insurance with State Farm , I went with another company several years ago. But State Farm covers everything else. Even my RV year around.

My deductible is high because my husbands says it covers more.
My payment is ever month to.

I have State Farm as well and I was excited when my bill went down $14.64, I don't know what I would have done if it went down $100. :faint:

I have State Farm too but mine homeowners goes up every single year. We have never filed a claim, when I call the office they always say "inflation" :sad2:

It costs less to pay annually (one big bill) than 12 smaller ones which are not 1/12th of the total. There's usually several dollars added in each month for the privilege of monthly payments. There are multi-car and multi-policy discounts which make it cost-effective to have all insurance with the one company - auto, homeowners, liability umbrella, and so on.

Check your uninsured and under-insured motorist coverage as well as your liability coverage for all risks. Many people are not covered as well as they think before they are involved in an accident, and then it's an unpleasant surprise.

I'm with Nationwide, and they don't charge extra for paying monthly, nor do they offer a discount for paying annually.
