Hi everyone,

Loooooong time lurker, so thanks for all of your great tips and info.

I had always thought that you couldn't get the luggage tags if you didn't live in the US, but lo and behold - the tags came in the mail!

Not sure if it was a fluke or not, but for this booking, I:

1) Booked hotel via US hotel site
2) Booked flights separately
3) Booked the DME through the Disney website separately

On closer inspection, it looks like the DME pack was sent to the hotel site for some reason - even though I booked the other stuff separately. They have then forwarded it on to me in Aus. Haven't received my magic bands in the mail though, so not sure how I could get one but not the other?

In case this is now a common thing - ignore this post, but if not - yay! We now get an extra part of the Disney magic!

So when I arrive in LAX, I should:
1)Pack my tags in my carry-on
2)Go through immigration
3)Grab my bags, put the tags on, go through customs
4)See my bags again in my hotel room???

Wow. As far as I know if outside US , you get your magic bands on checkin.
Are you staying at a Disney hotel?

Yes, I'm staying on-site. So no magic bands, just DME luggage tags for me I guess!

That would be great if they started doing that!! Yes, just attach them after customs:)

For the first few years when DME started, Disney would send the luggage tags to Australia. This was discontinued due to the tags sometimes not arriving in time.

Which hotel has forwarded you on the package with the tags, a Disney hotel one or another.

When you arrive in Lax you need to clear customs, collect bags, clear immigration and then attach the DME tags before checking bags in. This is provided the airline in Australia have checked the bags through to MCO. You need to then go through security for the domestic flight.

In MCO you only need to checkin at the DME desk in terminal B ground floor and the bags shoudld arrive in your room up to a few hours after you. Provided the Disney DME staff see your luggage tags they are collected before they go onto the luggage conveyor.

Your bags if collected by DME go the resort on separate transport. They do not normally go on the DME bus.
