I got an "IRS" headache...

It should be simpler. I shouldn't have to hire an expert to figure it out.
You don't have to hire an expert to figure it out, nor do you have to give yourself a headache over it. There is a simpler way, but you said you're trying to figure out if the harder way will give you a bigger deduction.

If your other question is valid, then so is mine. If you think it should all be simplified, why not just figure it the simple way (or not at all if that's too complicated) and be done with it?

I guess the point is that it shouldn't be so difficult to take deductions that the law says you are entitled to. Your view seems to be that it's OK to make it so tough that people end up paying more than the law says they have to just to be done with it.

::yes::

Maybe it's tough for a reason. Hmm...

No, that's not my point of view at all. I'm just wondering why the OP holds himself to a different standard than he does others who disagree with other aspects of the current tax laws. :confused3

I have no idea what you're talking about there, but what you said in your post doesn't mesh with your explanation.

If you feel the tax laws aren't taking enough, fine. We'll just have to disagree.

I feel the current rules are too confusing and complicated. You're point seems to be either hire someone or forego what *they* ruled I'm entitled to.

My opinion of taxes being too high is completely separate from them being too complicated. I really think you're comparing apples to grapes.

Did you read my first post? Sorry, I thought it was pretty clear.

Charade started another thread a while back where he asked why people who think tax rates should go up don't just send the IRS extra money.

So, I'm asking him, if he thinks the tax law should be simplified to make his auto deduction easier to calculate, why not just use that simpler method that is already available to him?

I find this extremely hypocritical.

You here again? No wonder you can't figure out your taxes. :lmao:

:lmao: Never said that. Not apples to grapes at all. You have to realize that "simplifying" the tax code would result in a standard mileage rate, (or perhaps no business use of auto deduction at all) and no option of using actual expenses. You expect other people to take it upon themselves to rectify their perceived imperfections in the tax law, but are not willing to do so yourself.

I'm still waiting on a couple of 1099's.

I'm still waiting on a couple of 1099's.

We got the last of our 1099s yesterday, but the Air Force decided that they would put the payment for my retirement move on a separate W-2, and then not allow me to access it on-line.

Good God!!! Could the tax code be any more complicated??!?!?!

I'm wading through the pages and page and PAGES of instructions on using a personal vehicle for business use (for my company). It's INSANE!!!

Who the heck thinks of this crap??

IMO, the WHOLE thing should be scrapped and redone. It's way too complicated for the average taxpayer to understand.

Try taking a class in college on it. My god, talk about 4 hours a week of nonsense!! :scared:
