I got an iphone!! (and I have a few questions...)

So, I got an 3GS and I have a couple dumb questions! I'm sure I'll have more as I go. I looked at the collective thread, but it's 70 pages long...

I got an Orlando phone number, but I live in Illinois. How do I get my local weather to show up on the weather app? If I click on it, I can see it, but the Orlando weather still shows on the main screen. I don't want to be jealous all the time by seeing their 73 degree weather!

My 2nd question - how long should the battery last? I got it Saturday and have had to charge it 3 times since then. I haven't played with it enough to have drained it that quick. I have been using wireless, not 3G, does that drain the battery quicker?

The weather app should have a little i inside a circle.

If you touch that you should be able to find a control panel of some sort where you can change or add locations.

You can go to settings and turn off something called Push which keeps going out and looking for email and such. It chews up battery.

I also turn off WiFi unless I'm somewhere using it.

Thanks Kevin! I have turned off Push. Hopefully that will help save the battery. As far as the weather app- I have already set it to Illinois weather, it just won't show up on the home screen. Or is that just a default pic? Do all weather apps say 73 degrees with a picture of sun? I assumed that was Orlando, b/c it's so much warmer than here!

It looks like I'm driving to get a new iPhone this morning. My wife washed mine in my pants last night all because I left it in there.

I thought you were kidding - I was going to say the last time I saw him was in the MK around Tomorrowland.

But on the iPhone, it is under "settings", "mail, contacts, calendars", "fetch new data.

Congrats! I would also turn off Location Services unless needed. I usually have Push turned off. If I want mail, I fetch it manually.

And screen brightness can have a huge effect on battery life! Keep it as low as you can comfortably read the screen and that will help a lot on your battery life.

Yes, you will both get it. DH and I both have iPhones. But you can also pick and choose which apps you keep on your phone. If he gets an app you don't want you can delete it off your phone but he still has it. You can use iTunes to manage your apps.

If you do get an external battery (recommended!), I have two I recommend. For me, I went with the one that eTicket recommended: iPower. I used it during DAP and it worked great. If you have your phone in a case, you will need to remove your case to put it in the iPower. The one I got for my husband for Christmas is Richard Solo 1800. Also a really great product. This one is a bit different as you do NOT need to take your phone from the case and you can use your phone while you are charging it with your external battery but the external is hanging out of your phone (it's small, but still). Mine is better for Disney, IMHO but I like his better otherwise just because of the convenience of not having to remove the case.
