So now what? I have never stayed there and would love to experience all (or as much as possible) that this beautiful resort has to offer. I read about the flag family, but what else should I know? We will be there for 7 nights in the end of August. Thanks for the input.

Got VWL at the 7-month in May with no problem.(studio)

The best advice is to start planning all your resturants now and call at the 6 month window so you get everything you want at the times you want.

We just cancelled a VWL studio from 8/20-26

Now we're staying VWL 8/12-17, AKL 8/17-20 and BCV 8/20-26

We just got back from our first stay at VWL and we really loved it there.

In addition to what spiceycat has listed, rent a boat and explore Bay Lake and go over the water bridge to the Magic Kingdom.

We did the bike path to Fort Wilderness on a surrey bike which was a lot of fun.

There is also a nature trail that starts at the back of the bike and boat rental area. We didn't have time to do that but I've read reports of people spotting deer while walking along that path.

The pool area is quite nice. You can see the geyser from the pool area. I also recommend getting a "Lumberjack" from the pool bar.

We enjoyed our dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe. It's a wild place and it was fun watching all the fun things the kids get to do there. Good food, too.

We got breakfast at Roaring Forks one morning and sat at one of the tables out near the pool area. It might be a bit hot to do that in August, though.

One evening we got something to drink from the lounge and just sat in the rocking chairs in front of the big fireplace and just enjoyed being in that amazing lodge.

Get a drink or coffee and go up to one of the out of the way seating areas on an upper level of WL. Sip, enjoy and relax.

In the early morning take a cup of coffee and sit on a rocker on the porch around the side of VWL. Just listen to the birds and enjoy the scent on the air, and the morning stillness.

Forgot to mention: DVC members get a 10% discount on bike and boat rentals!

Hi I just called and booked our vacation at VWL at the end of August as well. We will be in a 2br from 8/20-8/26 and had no problem getting reservations at all. This will actually be our first trip as DVC members as well as our first time staying on property. We will be arriving the 16th and staying 4 nights at Poly then the 6 nights at VWL. All 5 of us are very excited and can't wait. Maybe we will see some of you there. :flower:
