I'm really excited cause I got a PIN in my email today! It's my first one ever! I can't use it cause it's not for the dates we're going but I'm excited cause now I'm in the pin "pool" and maybe I'll get another one some day. I just had to tell someone and figured the people here on the DIS would understand the excitement :-)

Ooh - yay! Good luck for the next one to be one you can use! We've gotten 2 PINs over the years and couldn't use ours, either.

How do you qualify for a pin code ?
Are you pulling my leg or are you being serious:confused3, if you are being serious there are multiple threads of speculation on how exactly you too can end up with a pin:flower3:

There isn't really any qualifiers. Some people have luck by going to disney online, planning out a vacation, then saving it to your profile (free to register with Disney).

But it really is just luck of the draw.

Sometimes it is sent by email, sometimes by postal mail. I rented my house to someone when I lived out of state. She gets offers here all the time by postal mail! I wish they were transferable :goodvibes

This is a good place for info on codes & discounts:

And op...yay! I feel your excitement!

Thank you very much for your kind and considerate answer to my question.

:cheer2: yeah!!

I got my first one last year, and recently cleaned my email out and deleted 5 or 6 old ones that I couldn't use. I did finally get one I could use this year, and received another that I used last week to book a trip for next March.

I hope you get one soon that are for dates you can use! :wizard:

Is a pin a number? I get emails every month that say " Great deals for the ***** Family! Or something like that and it always has our family name in the email. But, it usually lists 2 deals, but, the deals seem like they are the ones that are for everyone. Like I saw a free dining choice.

I have gotten emails before as you described, and sometimes they are just informing you of offers for the general public. A pin is a number, mine usually look like this:

14248 04712 56191

Always read the offer carefully. This fall, I got a pin for free dining, and at first I thought it was silly, because free dining was already offered through December. Then, when I looked at the dates, I saw it was good for some dates that were blocked out to the general public. If it has a pin number, it should be offering something besides the public discounts.

.... and if you have taken a vacation before, call WDW and ask if there is a pin in your account. I have asked and .... voila ... we had one. So, it doesn't hurt to check. :goodvibes

YEAH.. i got one too!!!

but what do i do with it?

do i have to call the 1-800 number (oops 407 number) or do i enter it somewhere online?

You can do both. When I got my pin there was a link on the bottom of the postcard which would take me to my special offer. Usually it says right on the offer what the pin is for (for example, free dining or a % off the room rate). You could also call if you wanted.

Good luck.
