I got one of the infamous postcards that Disney sends out for low rates! But I am bummed- it is only good for dates I can't use! The rates are great- $49 for Values for Aug. 1 through Sept. 30.

Wish I could use it- this would be a great deal.::yes::

Those are great rates! Too bad you can't use them. Can you tell me what lists you are on that you think might have put you on the receiving end of the post card? I've recieved one once several years ago for AKL but nothing since then. We are registered on the disney website, get the online newsletter, shop regularily at a disney store and disneystore online.... No postcards! No one seems to be able to figure this out! How long has it been since your last trip? Do you have current reservations? AP holder? Just currious.
Thanks,:sunny:

I am interested in this too! This is a wonderful rate. We have been to Disney serveral times and have never received a post card. Is there a code on this card? We have reservations for August 1 - 8 at $74.00 per night.

Those things never come when you need them. I've gotten two - neither of which I could use. We had booked POFQ last March and then decided to stay at Marriott's Grande Vista instead. A few months later we got the first postcard and then later got a second one good for this March. So in our case, cancelling a reservation seemed to trigger them.

Let's see-

Code on card? No, just a PIN # to give to the CM on the phone.

What lists am I on?-

Registered on Disney website

Signed up to receive Vacation Planning video

Receive Disney newsletter

Signed up for Disney Partners (I think)- this is something they offered via the website to give feedback on new promos, etc.

We belong to the Disney movie club

I have shopped at Disney Store online, but not frequently.

We currently have ressies for ASMo for November through AAA, and we pre-ordered UPHs through Disneys 407 number.

We don't have APs

We have never stayed on-property before (under our own reservations- only with parents)

Our last trip was 2 1/2 years ago.

Hope that helps- I was surprised to get one in the mail. Hearing about them from other posters, they seem to be totally random (kind of like the Tag Fairy, LOL)!!
:hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

I received the same postcard.

We've never stayed on property - have reservations in October with DVC.

I registered at the Disney website and have the Disney Visa. I noticed I started getting more Disney mail after registering at the website. I don't know if that is a coincidence or not. This is the 2nd post card I've gotten in the last 4 or 5 months! :earseek: My DH thinks I'm up to something since we keep getting discount post cards! He thinks I'm planning another trip! :p

I think it's Disney's way of saying, "You know you can't do it all in one trip! Since you are already going, why don't you plan another trip?". They figure you will be so excited about that great rate that you can't get during your trip, you will book another just to get the great deal! And, you know, the worst thing is that I am now pondering how to talk DH into going for another trip!! LOL!!

I got a postcard too & will be going on our first trip 10/30-11/6. We have the VISA, registered at the site & very limited buyer at DS in store & online. We did buy MNSSHP tickets - maybe that set it off? We're staying at SIL's timeshare so can't use the code.

I got the same postcard and we just got back. No chance of us going again this summer, lol.

check out the information regarding post cards on mousesavers it explains alot of this.

I received one too for $74 for a moderate but for dates we couldnt use - we usually book through priceline and save a bunch of money, but you can't cancel (or stay in a disney owned property).

I am on a quest to get one of these- I don't think I will ever get one though. I am registered at disney.com. I am going to order the planning kit in my husband's name and see if that does anything for me. I recently got a postcard to do a survey- which I did hoping it would increase my chances of getting one of these postcards. Please please please- send me a postcard for el cheapo deluxes before my December trip!!!!

I've heard of more than one person who say they've gotten the postcard and told Disney they couldn't go on the valid dates, but could go at a different time, and CRO gave them the good rate at a time they could go. It's worh a shot. The worst they could do is say, "No". They sure can't take your birthday away from you.

I received one shortly after requesting the video. I think that might have something to do with it...

I want a post card!! I recently ordered the planning video for DCL...maybe I'll get one! What great rates!!

I got one too! Mine was for the $49 rate at a value resort.

DH & I were planning on staying at a moderate on our nexr trip. I called up to inquire about whether we could receive a discount on the moderates and if so how much and I was given the rate of $79 per night using the same PIN on the postcard. Just wanted to pass along the info.

Also, the postcard came in my DH's name not mine (all previous trips were booked in my name so I was wondering why the card wasn't addressed to me)

The only thing I recall DH doing regarding signing up for anything etc., which would account for him receiving the card is that he ordered our park hoppers from Disney.com a few months ago, so I'm pretty sure that's what did it.

DisnryDame, are you going during the time the rates are offered? I would change to a moderate for those rates, but we are going the first week of November. I think I will call and ask them if they can do anything for me in Nov. When I hear, I'll post and let everyone know if I got a deal or not! A Value resort is good, but a Moderate would be even better!::yes::

Hello MomofKatie- yes, we are going during the time the rate is offered.

Good Luck, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

I too received the $49 post card from Disney. Too bad I can't go at that time (July - Sep).

How I got it? I'm registered at Disney.com; I've vacationed on-site before, ordered things online, used to belong to the Disney Club (how I miss it); subscribe to the Disney Magazine. Things like this get you on a list I guess.

I DO NOT HAVE A DISNEY VISA. But I'm sure this is something else that they draw names from.

My mom received a post card last year- it came to my address. She came with me on one trip, she was only listed as a guest in my party - it was my reservation, and she doesn't subscribe to any of the above-listed things - she doesn't own a computer. So go figure. :scratchin

I think it comes from the vacation planning kit. I have stayed on site once, in 2000. But I have been back plenty since. The only thing I know that I have done is register with the website and order the planning kit each year and I get the postcard at least once a year.

Well, I called about the postcard, and they did not give me any break on my ressies for Nov. Oh, well- it was worth a try! I did talk to my mom, who is going with us, and she informed me that she will be footing 1/3 of the bill, so I decided to upgrade from ASMo to POFQ. Really looking forward to the trip!:bounce: :bounce:
