I got a Kindle! How to find free books.....new question post 13

Not sure I can post the link on here so I will send you a PM with the link. I got one as well. arent they awesome. Oh I find it easier to pick them online and then sync the kindle. Harder for me to find the free stuff on the kindle itself.

Enjoy!

I love my kindle, you will also. :thumbsup2

Go to amazon.com, kindle ebooks and then click on kindle bestsellers. You will find some free ones there. That is where I get most of my free books but you have to watch it because they update if often. Wouldn't want to miss any good ones.

There is an awesome website called Frugal girls.com and it has had several listings for free ebooks lately. Lots of other good bargains, coupons etc too. They are great!

Couple things to keep in mind:

Free books kind of come and go. Right now seems to be a bad time for them --perhaps amazon's trying to get people to spend their gift cards first? Look at the 100 best selling free books every week or so. You'll find some good things when you're not expecting them.

When you find something good, get it right away. Often authors put their things up for free to get themselves on the bestsellers' list, and then a couple days lat they start charging.

I got a knidle for Christmas too! Just fininshed reading ym first "free" book. Thanks for the websites - looking forward to more "free" reading.

On the amazon.com website, if you go to the Kindle section, the eBooks portion, there's a panel on the right labeled Bestsellers, and inside that, a tab for the Top 100 Free.

I was reading on the Nook thread :rolleyes1 and they said something about being able to download books from their library to their Nook.....can Kindle people do that too???

Not easily. I believe you would have to run the file through a converter to change the format to the one Kindle uses and remove the Digital rights management from it as well to get it on the kindle. Also not all Libraries are participating in this yet.

Looks like you already got great answers. Just wanted to say enjoy! I got mine last year and love, love, love it! It feels weird to hold a heavy book now. Took me much longer than DD to figure out some of the other features, like highlighting, bookmarking, and archiving. Once you set out to teach yourself it is fairly intuitive though.

Just got a Nook. Are there any free books, other than the few on the B&N site?

There are other threads, for the Nook. You should look for those and ask there (if they're not about free books); or, if you check all the links on this thread that don't specifically include Kindle in the site address, at least one of them does show free (and pay) books for a variety of e-readers.

I use the amazon free books. There are times when I have to get a book that will probably never be free on amazon. I earn swagbucks for those. I get about $25/month (in amazon gift cards) with swagbucks and use that to get my "free" books.

Now you can loan out books on Kindle. I never saw the official announcement but I was just looking at my library on amazon and noticed this feature online. Yay!

Books must be "lending enabled" by the publisher. Not all books will have this ability. Glad to see that amazon got on board with lending. Nook was beating there butts on this feature.
