I haven't been posting lately because I got a job! I am so excited. I had been doing home daycare since I was laid off two years ago. I can honestly say I hated it. I loved being home for my kids, but they had to sacrifice so much having other kids here all day. To me it wasn't worth it.

I had a job literally fall into my lap. I've been there for two weeks now and I'm loving it. It seem to good to be true! I got to pick my own hours - 7:45-2:45 so I can get my kids on and off the bus! Decent pay and benefits after 3 months - this is huge for us! My summer hours may increase by 1-2hrs a day, but that's fine with me.

The kids are so happy not having other kids here all the time and I am so happy to be getting out of the house! The only one having a hard time adjusting is my dh :headache: He is not helping out with the kids, dinner, laundry, cleaning etc... He was like this after every year long maternity leave, so I know it will just take him some time

The Disney fund will grow much faster now!!!

Can you tell I'm happy

Congratulations!!!! Sometimes, things just work out, don't they? What is your new job? Do you enjoy doing it?

 You can be very good at a job and still hate it. God knows my father did it for 20 years!

Congrats OP, having a job you like that also pays the bills is priceless!

They were fine, I locked them in the closet for 8 hrs a day. I did give them bread and water ;)

Of course they were lol! I didn't like my house being taken over with daycare things. I hated that my kids had to share everything even their rooms. I hated the cost of my grocery bill every week to feed the extra kids etc.... I didn't dislike the actual kids :lmao:

I am back into accounting. It's what I did for 15yrs before being laid off. I didn't realize how much I missed my adding machine and the sheer joy of balancing accounts

I do payables, recievables and payroll for a small trucking company just 1 mintue down the road from our house!

This is one thing that would bother me too. I wouldn't want my house taken over!

Congrats on the job! And the closeness to your house is awesome!

Congrats on the new job.

Your husband should thank his lucky stars for having you in his life.

The women I know would not put up with a man acting like a bratty kid.
He would have a pile of dirty clothes and have to fix his own meals until he's able to find his big boy pants.

good for you. Glad for your new job. I love what I do and working is a pleasure...wish that for everyone.

Congrats!

Oh don't worry, he will be getting a wake up call soon. I'll give him a week or two before I just start tossing his dirty laundry on his side of the room. ;)

And in all honesty he does the laundry. We have a smart meter on our house, so the cheapest time to do laundry is before 7:00am and after 8:00pm. I refuse to do laundry after 8:00pm, that's my down time, so he does two loads every morning because he's an early riser. I just fold and put away.

Me, too!! The job I'm currently in (and have been for almost 5 years) I cannot stomach. I get major anxiety on Sunday morning just knowing I have to go there on Monday. I hate the job (mindless and mind-numbing), I hate the atmosphere, I hate the lack of any creativity or "out of the box" thinking.

Unfortunately, I must make enough money to support my family & have flexibility and this job provides that. I have been looking around and there are NO jobs out there that pay what I'm earning AND provide the flexibility I need in my working hours.

Now, with all that being said, as much as I despise the job, I am consistently a top performer and am very good at what I do. Just because I hate the job doesn't mean I'm not good at it -- if I was no good at it, I would have been fired years ago. You have to make the best of it so, if I have to be there for now, I may as well be great at it.

Congrats on the new job but I don't see why your kids would have to share their room with day care kids. :confused3 Both of my kids attended home day cares but at both homes, it was separate: Finished walk out basement with our own entrance, kids had a separate bathroom, etc. The day care kids did not have full run of the home. I know my house would be too small for all of that but still, I feel the kids that live there should have their own space & privacy. jmho.

Good luck with the new job! Love those hours! :thumbsup2

Congrats!! And LOL great response to the snarky comment about the daycare kids..of course you care for them and like the kids..just not the side of it where it takes over your house. I used to watch some kids once in awhile way back when and it IS rough..your own kid's things become community property, their rooms aren't theirs, etc. But it's great you worked so hard to hang in there until something else came along. Hopefully your DH will get back into the groove of doing his share.
