DH and I fell in love with Ft. Wilderness ten years ago when we camped there with the kids and my younger brother in a tent. After ten years of Disney withdrawals, we are going back June 6-12, 2009.

At first, we were going to stay in a cabin since I have become addicted to air conditioning. While I was pricing our options, I innocently made the comment yet again to DH that it sure would be nice if we had our own travel trailer because it would save us a bundle in the long run especially since I plan on us taking a lot more vacations there.

DH agreed! We have to wait until we sell one of our other houses to buy it, but I get to buy a travel trailer before we go!! His only requirement was that it have a private bedroom for us. Not a problem. I'm thinking about choosing one that has bunk beds for the kids and a slide out. It also has to be a bumper puller.

Now all I have to do is sneak an electric golf cart under the radar and we'll be totally set. :rolleyes1

Congrats,,I hope you get to buy a TT soon,,they are going fast ! :rotfl2:

Just be sure to take your time and check out ALL the different brands of campers,,theres something to suite everyones needs if you look long enough.
I would like to recommend "Jayco".

No golf cart ,,,why, thats almost like a day with no sunhine !

Ain't nutt'n like camp'n at the Fort. And don't forget to pack a fish'n pole when you go.:thumbsup2

Oh, fishing is a must. Thankfully, DH is a very understanding man when it comes to me and my fishing. It speaks volumes that he bought me a personalized Game and Fish license plate which features fishing on it for my last birthday. If any of you run into us at the Fort, you'll all get to see them on my truck. It upset DH and my Daddy greatly when I got stuck trying to reach my favorite fishing hole (the one where I caught my first crappie with my Daddy when I was six) back in January of that year and had to hike a little over 5 miles home in 22 degree weather soaking wet from having swum a half mile over a flooded levee. After that, DH and my Daddy went in together and bought me a 4x4 and a cell phone so that they wouldn't have to listen to Mom stroking out each and every time I left out to go fishing by myself. Fishing is my passion and everyone who knows me knows it. I've never met anyone who likes to fish as much as I do until my DD came along. She puts me to shame.

I'll check into the "Jayco's". I really don't know much about travel trailers or the like except for my brief experience at tagging along with Mom when she insisted on buying one a few years ago. The only trailers I know about are the combination horse trailer/camping units that a few of our friends take along with our riding club to DD's horse shows and that's all.

Any and all suggestions on travel trailers and electric golf carts would be most appreciated. I am extremely tight fisted when it comes to spending money (a quality that my DH loves for some reason), but I will splurge when it comes down to a long-term benefit and savings.

I won my battle about the golf cart with DH. I lost a lot of muscle strength in my legs after my cancer surgery a few years ago. They had to cut through my muscles and clear down to the bone to get it all. Although I can walk just fine on my own, walking long distances while tugging a load is hard for me now. I argued that there was no way that I could physically lug a load of heavy laundry down to the comfort stations to keep everything in clean order. He hedged for a moment, but quickly realized I wasn't going to budge about it. Now I get to get the golf cart of my choice with his warm and wonderful full support. Woohoo!

Congrats! Have fun shopping of the perfect tt!! (and golf cart too, hehe)

We have a good set up for our family right now. We have 4 bunks in the back for kids and a super slide that gives us lots of room in the main area. Our bed room has sliding pocket doors to close our room off. It works for us now and while the kids are growing up.

Enjoy exploring all of brands and options! You can probably find a great deal early this spring at an RV show!! :thumbsup2

The first thing you will need to find out is what can you tow ????
what is your tow vechicle????
do you want to put cart in pick up?????
or are you considering a toy hauler for the cart??????
google travel trailers and get several brands to look at then you can look at the specs to see weights, lenghts and floor plans to see what will work for you good luck and have fun

Congrats, your going to have so much fun and make many memories.

I am sorry that you had to go thru cancer and surgery,,,but a golf buggie sounds reasonable to me after that. Sounds like your DH is a pretty good guy.
Theres a lotta good friends here that can help with good suggestions on buggies amd campers.
And I gotta say,,you sound like a woman after my own heart,,,loves to fish and teaches the children to fish too !! How great is that ! My DW and I love to fish as much as camp,,just wish we could do more of it. We always fish when at the Fort,,and have never been skunked.

Keep asking questions and keep us up on your progress.
HAPPY TRAILS !

here is a forum that talks about carts www.buggesgonewild.com they have lots of info and many diser's are there also they can give you help with cart ideas they have all kinds from electric to gas and from low rider to lifted with big tires depending on what you want to use your cart for
I agree with the person who earlier mentioned about a rv show if you have any in your area they offer a lot of choices under one roof good luck looking and one thing a long time friend who has had many campers over the years told me is look at the little things if the manufacturer took the time to run the wires with grommets instead of just blasting a hole with a hammer And yes some do this look in the cabinets did they run plumbing and wires neat or does it look like they just threw it in there agian good luck and have fun looking any ?'s feel free to ask some one here is sure to be able to help

Congrats. We really like our toy hauler. Most of the newer ones come with drop down queen beds in the toy hauler area. Plus we still have a private bedroom.

Yay, congrats! DH and I bought one this summer, and it was a total impulse buy, but one that I don't think we'll regret. We've been camping 3 times already and are so excited to take it to the Fort in February (our 1st cross-country trip). CONGRATS again and keep us posted on what you pick out!

Congrats!!!! You're so lucky, that is what we are waiting to do next spring. Let the fun times begin:cool1: :cool1:

There's so much to consider that I didn't even realize. We have an '03 Ford F150 5.4L Triton 4x4 to haul it with. We use it all of the time to haul our horse trailer and for hauling hay and have never had issues with it's pulling power. I don't know the tow limits are on it though so I'll have to find that out.

We're up in the air about whether to get a regular TT or a toy hauler type. I guess it will depend on what will give us the most bang for our buck. Since the house we are selling is his "hunting house" up in the mountains, I'm sure DH and his buddies will want to use it on their hunting trips too.

I wanted to get out and look at them this weekend, but things kind of got out of hand whenever we went to Lowe's a few hours ago so it looks like my entire weekend is now booked with a bit of remodeling work around the house. DH wanted to repaint the outside of the house so we loaded up to get a little paint. No biggie. Well lo and behold, the glass fell out of our storm door. It was fine except for the great big spider web looking design now radiating throughout it. We are now decorated for Halloween. ARGHHHH!!!!!!

So since we were going there anyway, we simply added a new storm door to our list. Got an even better one in that has a window and a roll away screen and a nice brass kickplate at the bottom so that maybe we won't be repeating this one with the kids constantly banging into it.

So by now, the kids have picked up the remodeling fever. I don't know where they get it from. As I am trying to finalize my color selections for the exterior, the kids bombard me with paint samples for approval. What? Did I miss something?

Oh yeah! DH told them that they could repaint their rooms this weekend. Oh nice. Very nice. Way to go DH. :thumbsup2 So I am sitting here typing this in the middle of a mountain of clothes, toys, gadgets, and gizmos that both kids have piled into the living room in preparation for the big event tomorrow.

So I'm going to settle for searching online to look at TT's this weekend. With any luck, I'll somehow manage to keep my sanity.

This is the toy hauler we're saving up for now...

How cool is the loft? I can SO see camping at FW at Christmas time and sitting up there with some adult beverages, with the Christmas tree in the corner, looking out at our neighbors' lights. Gives me the warm fuzzies just thinking about it! :goodvibes

Have a good time shopping - that's definitely a big part of the fun!!
