Third time lucky

Had an external hard drive... too bulky.

Had a cheap 1TB SD flash card... corrupted my files.

Taken the plunge and bought an expensive but well known and trusted 1TB Micro SD card... it arrives tomorrow!

And yes, I do have that much garbage on my computer I need to backup!

SD cards are not long term storage devices. That is not their designed purpose.

The OP even mentions loosing all their files to an SD card.

SD cards are probably the least reliable storage medium currently available.

Don't worry, I am also using an external HDD for all my media... the SD card is just a more convenient go to device. Just slot it into the computer, bish bash bosh
