I freecycled

I had a living room sofa that I needed to get rid of. It was 'formal' and I'm going with a more casual style in the new house we're building. (I already have the microfiber sofa we're replacing it with. It was pretty crowded in the ole' living room.)

No one wanted it so with my DD's encouragement, I tried freecycle. Within two days of listing it, it was picked up and they love it!!

Anyone else use freecycle? I was reluctant since it seems a lot of transactions fall through and then there's the whole concept of trusting strangers to contend with.

I'm so glad I gave it a try and DH was amazed when he got home to see it was already gone.

I have given away a few things on Freecycle. I think it's a great way to get rid of things you don't want, but someone else could use!

I love Freecycle. No need for the city dump...someone will come get virtually ANYTHING!

I got rid of a bathtub, kitchen counters, faucets, an oven, a stove, golf clubs, childrens's furniture...and the list goes on and on and on.

I have stuff I want to be rid of right now. I should go find the Freecycle for my area.

I love freecycle too. I have given alot of kid stuff away...including our large swingset. DH was so surprised that we got responses so fast.........under 5 minutes!!!

I love it. So far, I've just given away stuff, but the time will come when someone posts something that I want.

I haven't even had to post, but I've given people looking like new stuff that I don't want.

I like freecycle but find it difficult to find people who will drive far out in the country to get my stuff. Otherwise I think it's a great way to find a new home for stuff!!

Love the freecycle! I have given and received things from freecycle. There is always a market for something there.

I'm on the prowl for some specific childrens books for a course I am taking and some freecyclers had them ready and available.

I found about about Freecycle here on this board and has since been the moderator to our Atlanta version! I LOVE it! I've made lifelong friends and truly love helping others with my JUNK!

I love freecycle, i haven't used it but Craigslist free listed some movie passes, and I'm freecycling an old Xmas tree this weekend.

I freecycle! I love giving stuff away, love that someone will come and get and I don't have to cart it anywhere.

Some of the stuff on there does make you go 'HUH??' For instance, someone is looking for "6 foot stockade fencing to keep my toddler in the yard."

Why does this bring up visions of a little guy tunneling under a fence to escape?

We did our own version, Putting items to the curb the day after garbage pickup so anyone will have a few days to snag whatever it was. Dumped off an antique foot pedal sewing machine that way...

I have used freecycle both for getting and for giving.

In fact, my entire garage storage unit came from Freecycle, as well as a recliner, a dresser, a bed frame, a spring rocking horse, a ton of clothes for my youngest daughter and what is currently my favorite pair of jeans.

I have given away a sewing machine, a rocking chair, clothes, baby blankets, bedding, party decorations, a microwave cart and a carpet shampooer.

The only things about Freecycle that frustrate me are people who say they want something and never show up, and people who continue to email you after you have already posted that the item is taken.

I did have a situation with one lady who wanted to wait and pick something up at a certain time, when she could bring her brother with her, because she didn't want to go to a stranger's house and after all she was a widow with two little girls that she was very protective of.

I pointed out that I was taking just as much of a risk, since I was the one giving out my address, and that I had planned on just putting the darn thing on the porch anyway, and I had no clue what being a widow had to do with anything.

Then she got miffed and sent me a hostile email about being uncaring and unsympathetic.

So you do have to deal with potential weirdos.

I LOVE freecycling! We've both offerred and taken items. In fact, we just got a new (to us) dishwasher and stove. Perfect condition, and just at the right time

I freecycle and love it! DH and I got rid of an extra lawnmower to the person who gave us a perfectly good upright freezer they could no longer use.

I love watching some of the items that come across. One time there was a cow tail table which was a cute little stool of a cow's tail end. DH's family does joke Christmas gifts and this fit the bill perfectly
