I finally found a way to get DH excited about Disney! - ADDED LINK TO TRIP REPORT

Oh yes, MUCH! I remember my sweet boys. Now they HAVE to shower or I can't stand to be near them. And moods... UG... well, you are reading my PTR for DLR... yes, my oldest ds can be quite a grumpy little man.

Oh yes....I am already dreading the moodiness. Reid can already get moody with me & he's 4!

I think the food is one of the reasons I so want to go.

If you love good food, then you simply must come down here! You don't even have to go to New Orleans. Lots of great places to visit down here.

:rotfl2: Hmmm :scratchin so a what colored Mickey head? :rotfl2:

I am not sure what I will have with me or even if I will have the same hair cut.. just know that if a frazzled crazy looking person comes up to you and says "hey, aren't you Amanda from Dis" that it is me. I tried this in December and I think I about spooked the poor gal to death. I am thinking it is likely that our path will cross.

:rotfl:
I'm sure I'll look quite frazzled myself! You'll probably hear my child before you see me.

Oh poo... I want one! I hope they come in the registration packets! If not... I guess we do get that fancy medal :woohoo: I guess that makes up for it a little.

Have you seen the medal for the 10 mile race? It is AWESOME!!!

Plus... they have a birthday club. DD is celebrating her birthday while we are there...so as long as the voucher for her free sandwich arrives prior to us leaving... that would totally cut down her oop costs.

That's cool about the birthday club. Even better for her - free & she won't be using DDP credits without you! :thumbsup2

Congrats on the win...you deserve it amanda

Awww, thank you! :goodvibes

as for the changes and being nuts....a little reminder girlfriend...

 I know you understand all of my "changeritis"!

Congrats on the gas cards!

Thank you! I'm so excited to go get them this morning! :woohoo:

Is the plan still to visit the Lego store after EOS?

Oh yes, indeed it is! I don't want him 20 years down the road blaming everything bad in his life on me not letting him go to the Lego store at Disney. :lmao: But, I do think I'm going to let him & Ed go there & then I'll meet them later. That way, I get some alone shopping time! :thumbsup2

Welcome Back! I hope y'all had a great trip! :goodvibes Will you be starting a trip report?

I'm so excited to check out the Villains party! I really am so happy to hear that everyone here would do the same & bring their kids to the party. I was so worried that maybe I was making a mistake by doing it with Reid. But, y'all have definitely set my worries to rest.

Isn't it funny how they just change their minds like that? Reid will do that with food. He'll eat 3/4 of something & then be like "I don't like this." Uh....yes you do! You just ate almost all of it! :headache: That's funny that your daughter is opposite. I bet your son will start to like those rides again though. Especially if his sister keeps riding them.

Reid wanted to watch Disney videos this afternoon. So, we watched many YouTube videos of rides that will be new for him. He was extremely excited about BTMR. I just hope that excitement remains once we're there.

Thanks! Stay tuned....I'm going to try to do an update tonight!

Well I have loaded some pics to photobucket but that is a slow process! I am pretty computer deficient though so I will see if I can figure out how to do a TR.

I hope he rides BTMR! Most kids seem to like it and you can't really see it before you are there so I'm sure that helps with the fear, unlike Splash where you see people dropping constantly. My son does that with food too.

Ok I am going to go back and read your update now!

Ok, I am caught up.....I wish someone could explain this subbing thing to me, it sounds a whole lot easier than what I am doing! I love that you won the gas cards!! I would be sooo excited about that too!!:thumbsup2

Congrats on the gas card!

Don't worry, I'm famous for "tweaking" my plans. I do it up until about the time it's time to go to Disney.

I wish I had more info about OKW or any DVC for that matter.:confused3

I'm sure you can figure it out! :thumbsup2 Make sure to let me know when you do get your TR started.

Yeah, I can see where Splash Mountain scares away a lot of 1st time riders (big & small) before they even get to the ride. He's watched the YouTube video of BTMR a million times now :sad2: so hopefully he'll be ready for the Wildest Ride in the Wilderness! :goodvibes

Thanks! I went & picked up my gas cards this morning! :woohoo:

Thank you! I was so excited! :yay:

I'm so glad I'm not the only one. :sad2: It's like a sickness sometimes. :rotfl2:

Me, too! One day I will own DVC - hopefully at BLT!

Who knew there would come a day we would be excited about winning gas money!:rotfl:

I'm sure I drive DH nuts changing plans, but he's been nice and hasn't said so. He just goes with it for my sanity.:lmao:

Me too, I want BLT!

Yes! I did it! Thanks...this will be much easier now!:thumbsup2

Who knew there would come a day we would be excited about winning gas money!:rotfl:

I know, right?!? I'm thankful that Louisiana has some of the better gas prices in the country. But, man, it's still so expensive! :sad2:

I'm sure I drive DH nuts changing plans, but he's been nice and hasn't said so. He just goes with it for my sanity.:lmao:

I know I drive Ed nuts. :rotfl: But, he usually humors me enough. In the end though, he always appreciates all of my obsessive planning.

Me too, I want BLT!

I love the location & I think I'm one of the few who love the decor! :goodvibes

Yes! I did it! Thanks...this will be much easier now!:thumbsup2

Yay! :yay: You're very welcome! It's definitely a much easier way to keep track of the threads that you follow. :thumbsup2

The changes sound great! You might feel rushed the morning after the race trying to check out, check in, and get to DTD by lunchtime.

:yay: for winning the gas card! That's awesome!

That's how I felt the more I thought about it. I don't like feeling rushed in real life. But, it's an even feeling at Disney. I really hope this will be a better plan for us.

:yay: for winning the gas card! That's awesome!

Thanks! I was so excited to win them. :woohoo: Reid & I went to the TV station this morning to pick them up. :yay:

Congrats on winning the gas cards! Our local station did that too, my mom and sis were trying to win for their disney gas money.

I like your changes. And don't worry, I changed things a million times before our trip. That's part of the fun!

Thanks! I was so excited! :woohoo: I've won little things before from contests (like candles & such) but never anything like this.

Thanks! I'm so glad to have people here who understand me. :grouphug:

Hooray for winning Gas gift card :dance3:

I hope your little man lets you two sleep in the next morning.

I like your change in plans, they have a really nice flow to them. And here is a bonus, since Reid will already have his Legos, they might entertain him enough that Sunday morning that even if he does wake up early maybe he won't wake you up so early.:goodvibes

And I'm excited you get to eat at EOS, I hope to eat there on our next trip too.:goodvibes

So, do I!

Thanks! I agree - the flow does seem better, not as rushed on the Sunday.

That is such a good point about the Legos! :thumbsup2 If he wakes up too early, I'll turn on Disney Junior for him & hand over the Legos. :rotfl: If he bores of the Legos, I'll have the iPad ready next.

And I'm excited you get to eat at EOS, I hope to eat there on our next trip too.:goodvibes

I hope you get to try it, too! It seems like everyone on the DIS loves the place!

Let's get back to the plans!

Okay, so I made my changes to our plans & that puts us checking into OKW on Sunday, Sept. 30th & just relaxing for most of the day. But come 3pm, we will need to start getting ready! Remember....I said we had another big night? Have you figured out where we're going yet? :scratchin

We'll be going to........................

This is our 1st time going to the Halloween party & I'm super excited! :woohoo:

I already have our tickets all printed out & ready to go! Reid has also been very excited about this ever since I told him about it. I really wish I could keep something as a surprise for him. But, I just love talking Disney with him because he gets just as excited as I do. And he brings it up a lot of the time so I just can't help myself. :rotfl:

Anyway, we'll start getting ready around 3pm & I'd like to be leaving by 4pm. I'm hoping we'll arrive at the MK around 430pm. We'll get our party tickets scanned & head straight to get our party wristbands. From there, I plan on us having dinner right away. I'm thinking we'll just do Cosmic Ray's. Once dinner is done, we can begin to enjoy our night!

I've read about how the party can get very crowded on certain nights, especially for character meet & greets. I think we'll have to be very selective about who we want to meet. I know Reid won't want to meet any of the villains, so I'm not too worried about them. Plus, I'll have (hopefully) met them the night before at the Villains Bash. As much as I would love to get our pics taken with the 7 Dwarves, I just don't see that happening. I think Mickey will be our main character we try to meet & maybe some of the other Fab Five.

Besides meeting Mickey, I'm sure Reid is going to want to trick-or-treat. We'll probably try to hit up a line or 2 but not too much more. Since we'll be eating at Cosmic Rays', we will have passed the Buzz Lightyear ride on the way there. Reid will probably be ready to go right there as soon as we're done eating. It's definitely a family favorite of ours, so I'm sure it'll be a must-do ride for the night. Other must-do rides will probably be:

Peter Pan
PotC
Tea Cups
Dumbo

I can't wait to see the new Storybook Circus area! We watched a video last week of the Dumbo circus tent play area. OMG! That place looks great! I just hope I can pry Reid away when it's our turn to go ride Dumbo. :lmao:

But, my absolute must-do for the night is this................

I can't even express how excited I am to see this parade. Reid & I both love Halloween so I think it'll be right up our alley. We watched a video of it on YouTube this weekend & that made our excitement grow even more. :hyper: Now, he keeps asking me to watch it.

I think we will try to see the 2nd showing of the parade since everyone says it's usually not as crowded. But, it'll also depend on how Reid is doing that night. If I don't think he's going to make it to the 2nd parade, then we'll have to watch the 1st. But, I will see this parade.

Other than those few things, I would also like to see Hallowishes. I'm really not trying to create a huge "must-do" list for us. I think we'll play it by ear mostly. I know we'll work in some rides because Reid won't allow us to be in MK and not ride some rides. It'll be fun if we get to meet some characters dressed in their Halloween costumes. But, I definitely don't want to spend the entire night waiting in lines. I really want to try & just enjoy the night & just decide at the moment what we want to do.

We'll probably leave the party before midnight. But, you never know....we may shut down MK! :rotfl2:

Now, ever since we booked our trip for this time of the year, I knew I wanted us to go to MNSSHP. What I didn't know was whether or not we would dress up in costumes. I always knew that Reid would dress in a costume for the party. But, I was unsure about me & Ed.

These were my concerns for us:

- Dressing in a Halloween costume is not something Ed would normally do. So, I knew I was going to have to find something that would be in his comfort zone.

- If we were going to all dress, I wanted to find costumes for us to go as a group. You know....all from the same movie, show, story, etc.

- A lot of the adult male costumes looked really cheesy & uncomfortable.

But, my biggest concern/obstacle?

*stepping up onto my soapbox* Why is it that these costume makers think every woman who wants to wear a costume is a size 2? Furthermore, why do they think every woman who wants to wear a costume also wants to look trashy?

I mean, seriously?!? I don't need to be sexy Snow White!!! Good, old-fashioned girl-next-door Snow White is just fine by me!

We thought of doing Star Wars. Reid wanted to be Darth Vader & Ed would be Han Solo. I finally found a Princess Leia costume that I thought would be okay (her white dress from a New Hope). I was so excited because I have dreamt about being her ever since I was little girl. But, I looked at the costume again and......HELLO! The slit on that thing goes well above the knee. Now, I'm not trying to be prudish here. But, for goodness sake, I will be in the Magic Kingdom! And all of the reviews talked about the dress being very see-through. So, I nixed that idea.

After further searching, I gave up & told Reid we couldn't dress with him. Well, poor baby, he got so upset. So, back to the drawing board I went. And this time, I revisited one of our first ideas.

Costume for Reid......Check!
Costume for Ed......Check!
Costume for me......UGH! Only in the "sexy" version.

Then, my wheels started turning & I feverishly sent out a text to one of my best friends. We've known each other for 20 years & she's just a fantastic friend. Anyway, I asked her if she could sew me a costume to be this character. She is not a huge Disney nut like I am, so I had to text her a picture of the character.

She came back & said yes!!! Sooooo.....we found a pattern that she could base the costume off of with a few minor adjustments! Not this weekend but the next, we are going fabric shopping. I can't even begin to tell y'all how much more excited I am about the party now that we will all have costumes. And now, I just need to order the costumes for Ed & Reid.

Oh, y'all want to know what we're dressing as? Well, okay..........................

Reid is going to be:

And Ed will be:

And I am going as:

I think this really suits our family. I can't thank my friend enough for doing this for me. She is a super busy mom who works full-time. Her DH is a firefighter so a lot of the times it's just her to take care of the kids & all of their school stuff & extracurricular activities. But, she is taking the time to do this for me. She is like my sister & I couldn't ask for a better friend.

Yay!!!! I am so excited to hear about the Halloween party!!!

How fun! I wish mom could get the boys to meet some princesses and princes with her though. ;)

I'm glad that I read all the way through before I replied because I was gonna jump in with

I'll make something for you! You should dress up as a family! It'd be such fun for Reid!!

And then, I read about your friend. :cheer2:

OMG! I LOVE the costume idea!!!

I am with you... why do all the costumes have to bee sooooo.... well you know. I dont' necessarily want to look like the fairy Godmother... but a sexy snow white? Pirates could be fun.. but again...:confused3

We are going to be a group of like 10 gals when we go... the idea was we all pick a different princess to dress as. Could work... in theory. There are quite a few princesses. My dd's sil is planning on a princess from the Kingdom Hearts game. Ok... not park or movie princess... but Kingdom Hearts is a Disney game, so it counts right? And it will be a bit more obscure...and I am certain no one else in the group will want to be it. Dd keeps asking her though... "is it appropriate" :rotfl2: Apparently, even my 21 year old dd shares our opinion on costumes.

Oh... and you are going on 9/30? :rotfl2: I am pretty sure that is when our tickets were purchased for. (the gal our group in the other room bought our tickets) I just know we are going to run into each other.

As for the party... I am also VERY VERY excited about the parade!!!
