I finally did it - Firework @ WDW

I think the fireworks pics are great!

The only thing that really bothers me is in the studios pics it feels like the building on the left is going to fall down.

Congratulations on getting in favour with those Firework Gods.

It looks like you used a ND filter; If so which one did you use and what was the level you set? Great pics, I`m also going to challenge myself with fireworks this trip.

Hey Firemanchip,

Thanks for checking out the pics. I actually did not use a filter. I took it off just for the fireworks.

I was using my Nikon D7100 with a Tokina AT-X Pro SD 11-16 f2.8 DX II supewide lens
Here are the setting I used:

Camera mode: Manual
Shutter: Bulb
Aperture: f8
ISO: 100

I also set my lens to full manual, turned off the VR function and turned off the autofocus function too. I then set my lens focus to infinity.

I used a remote shutter release and timed each shot accordingly.

Hope that helps. Please post pictures when you return.

Fireworks are tough to time, but always the most rewarding shots. Apart from carrying around a tripod, i found that the railing just outside the plaza cafe is a great place to "rest" your camera while you take a low light shot with a slow shutter speed.

Yes! It is a great feeling to have finally been able to capture some shots. Thanks for the tip about the Plaza. I typically use a locker to store my tripod and only take it out at night.

Wow, awesome shots! Agree with on of the comments on your site that mentioned possibly cropping some of the Magic Kingdom shots so the Castle gets a little more prominence, but this is coming from a complete novice :worship:

I've just started delving into the menu of my NEX 3N and messing around in manual mode. This along with buying some decent legacy lenses and I've seen major improvements in my pictures.

You inspire me to keep going and someday get a shot of those elusive fireworks. Hopefully I can convince the wife that I NEED, rather than just want, a Sony a7 for our next trip. I've never shot full frame but hopefully soon.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for all the feedback. I have cropped some of the photos and upload a bunch more from Wishes. Hope you enjoy and good luck with you photos. Please post and share...
