I feel stupid asking this about Characters, but?

Hey, DisneyGirlie, 62 here and still enjoying the characters. I enjoy them in the parks, character meals, wherever. Don't be bashful.

And welcome to the DIS.

Thanks a ton for the warm greeting!
I'm really glad to be here! :cloud9:

On a different note, those adults who love the characters - which have been your favorite character meals? Trying to pick some for my trip in March! Watch out characters, here I come! :rotfl:

I loved Garden Grill, Mickey, Pluto, Chip, and Dale, the food was great. Wish I coluld go on my next trip in January, but have to wait for our trip in March

Don't feel silly! As others have already stated, age doesn't matter when in WDW. My DBF and I are both 25 (with no kids) and we love getting pictures with the characters! While I see way more kids getting pictures with the characters than adults, I don't care. Those pictures are the best souvenirs! :goodvibes

As for Dopey, I've seen the Seven Dwarfs in front of the train station at MK. They were there early in the morning. As a matter of fact, I think it was at opening time... :scratchin I hope you find him on your next trip! I'll be looking for Daisy myself!

Oh gosh, don't worry about it. I see plenty of adults without kids seeing the characters.

If you enjoy WDW then you can't possibly ever be "too old"! And I agree with others, most characters really enjoy even the adults getting into it. They often respond in kind. Cpt. Hook kept roaming by my table at a character breakfast goading me so I had to goad right back it was enjoyable! Until I sicked Peter Pan on him for harassing me. :thumbsup2 I get a smile now just thinking about it. Be a kid for as long as you wish! That's what WDW is all about! :lovestruc

I get pics taken with characters all the time.

Obviously, you didn't read my TR. :goodvibes
Me & my DH recently went to four character meals. We got lots of pics with characters - who were all great by the way - even the face characters!!
Go! Have fun!

I'm 25 and DW is 21 and not only do we get pictures we also get *gasp* autographs. I say go for it; we pretty much devote a day or so to character hunting... one of our favorite parts! :goodvibes

From a slightly different perspective, I have never been one to have a picture taken with characters (my son didn't like them when he was small, so I guess we got out of the habit), but I love to watch other people, including adults, as they have theirs taken. It's a wonderfully magical feeling, seeing people of all ages remember what it's like to be a kid again. :)

I hope you don't feel silly next time. The characters are there for everyone and it's lovely to see everyone taking home such great memories!

PS: My mother still gets her picture taken with Santa at the mall, and I can tell you, those are going to be some of my favorite pictures of her when she's gone. Mom being a kid....how precious is that?!

I'm 40, and in my past two trips with my best friend, we have gathered autographs from as many characters as possible on t-shirts (the first time, we were collecting the autographs as a surprise for my kids, but it was such a blast that we did the same thing for ourselves the next time!).

Before that, I didn't really 'do' the characters much on my own, but I love it now! My DF was along for a day of our last trip, and he got used to being dropped like yesterday's newspaper when we caught sight of another one. "So, I could be up for going to Pirates again and then heading over to OHMIGOSH IT'S THE GENIE!!!" and off we'd be. Ah, good times! :sunny:

Meeting the characters is fun no matter what age you are. Personally, a lot of my favorites are the face charcters because there's so much more interaction when you play along with them. No need to be embarassed. You will not be the only adult meeting the characters- trust me.

Never get too old to be a kid. That's what keeps some of us old folks from whining about aches and pains and loud music, etc. I turned 55 this year and I still find the magic just about everywhere I go. I have friends who wouldn't go to WDW if someone else paid for it because they are too busy being old. :thumbsup2

I mean this most sincerely, Your parents must be truly proud. I know I am of my teens wanting to see and get pictures with the characters. Of course, I must admit, it is a little easier for them, they have a 3 yo sister, so we use her as an excuse.

But even before her, they were 12, they were always willing to get a pict. with any character. They still seek certain autographs too. I'm sure this is not something they brag about with their classmates when they come home. However, they do have a few friends who understand when they get excited about getting a certain autograph or picture.

Get as many pictures as you can. They will each have a special memory for you with your own children some day. Perhaps you DD or DS will someday look at a photo of you and Peter Pan and say WOW! you knew Peter Pan?!! ;)

I love to see older "kids" enjoying all aspects of Disney. Even at halloween time, I enjoy seeing the older kids dressed in custom and they always recieve extra candy at my house. We all need to hold on to the fun part of being young as long as we can!

Enjoy! Spread the joy!

Eh...don't worry about it! You're in Disney! DF and I are 23 and 22, soon to be 24 and 23 and we still do it, and no kids! And we know plenty of other "adults" who get character pictures without kids. For example, see the picture in my signature. LoL. :)

36 years old, 6 feet tall and 275lbs here. The only problem I have with getting pictures of characters is when I'm alone. The people behind me think I'm with the people in front of me. I've had many little kids behind me run past me when the group in front of me is finished. I just laugh and tell them its my turn next. Then they give me this weird look. Either they think I'm too big or that I was with the group that just left.

Its fun! Last trip I stood in line by myself for 30 or so different characters. DW either wasn't with me (she was probably shopping) or didn't care to have her pic taken as she was 6 months pregnant at the time.

Can't wait for next years trip to get more character photos! Maybe I'll let the kids in the picture too. :teeth:

Just to make you feel better, I was in my mid 20s the first time (that I remember) I saw Winnie-the-Pooh. I was so excited to see him and I hugged him very hard. When I pulled away, I had tears streaming down my face. He wiped my tears away with a paw and hugged me again. I love Pooh and have since I learned to read. I'm now 38 and still get teary-eyed just thinking about seeing Pooh again and having my girls give him a hug.

Did you ever see the episode of Roseanne when they go to Disneyworld? Darlene's encounter with Pooh always reminds me of my own!

You're not stupid. My first trip to Dis was when I was 14 and I had my picture taken with Tigger and didn't feel  at all :)

Disney is for all ages! Go and have fun and don't worry about having a picture taken with any of the characters! DH (36), DS4 and I (35) are going in 2 weeks and I'm looking forward to getting our picture taken with the characters. Even if it's just one of us with a character.

well i felt a little weird at first but it honestly is like being a kid again. I went to disney solo in June and you dont see too many 19 year olds there solo waiting in line to see characters but once you are at the front of the line the handlers are so nice and they offer to take pictures. Its so fun i ate at 1900 park fare just to get pictures with the characters (fairy godmother, suzy, perla, prince charming and Cinderella.) It was so fun Cinderella bowed down and said Welcome princess! haha The face characters are so fun to talk to they always stay in character. Prince charming took me by the arm before and said "what is a beautiful princess sitting here eating all by herself for" haha it was just so cute and the guy behind was with his family and offered to take a pic for me.
