Hi All!!!!

Feels like its been ages since ive been on here and I miss the magic sooooooooooooo much! Been sitting Uni exams and just finished Wednesday (fingers crossed they went ok pixiedust:) so Ive been super busy but Im back now!

Any way the reason for posting is to check in and say HI:wave2: and also to have a bit of a rant!

Does anyone ever feel like they literally HAVE too have a trip booked or they might explode? Cause thats exactly how Im feeling at the moment!

Was supposed to be going to DLP with my mum in June, but my gran isnt that well and we cant take the risk of leaving the country so now im thinking..........why not book WDW and avail of the free dining for 2013......eeeeeek the problem is I would have to save my little *** (ok not so little but figure of speech lol :rotfl2:) to do so......Honestly I feel like a crazy person at the moment as I have zero holidays planned, im not a big person to go out to the pub or for dinner, unless Im on holidays lol (originally myself and DBFs plan was to go in summer 2014...but its ages away....)

So I have a question for all the veterans......is it possible to save that much?? can it be done in a year comfortably???ALSO my biggest question is:
If you book with WDTC, when you pay your deposit, does the remaining balance have to be paid off all at once in one big down payment OR can you log in and kinda chip off it so to speak week by week paying small amounts often??

Feeling so much better after my rant :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I know EXACTLY how you feel!

Since our last trip on 2008 we've been intending to get back but because of job and finances we've had to keep pushing it back - we're finally on track to go next year and it's driving me nuts!

Work out how much it's all going to cost, including spending money, food etc - this gives you your 'target' savings amount, then divide it up by the number of paydays between now and just before you plan to go - can you *realistically* save that much each month? Before answering yes or no, look at the last few months on your bank statements - did I have that much disposable, did i spend out something that may pop up again, did i spend on a 'luxury' like a meal out that could be saved towards the trip?

Then also look at where you want to stay - on-site is fantastic and the free DDP is a big bonus, but do the sums - could you achieve the same dates for cheaper by staying off-site (factoring in the increase in food costs and transport to/from the parks) rather than on-site?

Work it out, don't make a rush decision. As an example, we're booked for mid october next year, and our trip including all spending and expenses works out £4k each - was going to be cheaper but it looks like there's now only two of us, and we won't compromise on the accommodation :rolleyes1 . DW is ok as she only works on an as-and-when basis with nothing over winter so i take the brunt of the household bills and expenses, it's just my costs i have to worry about - i currently have £975 saved up, so only another £3025 to go by october next year!!!!

Sounds like a lot? Especially when i only get to save a hundred (or 150 if i'm lucky) each month... but by doing the sums i have worked out i can do it with the savings each month, and since i get paid every four weeks rather than monthly, there's a month each year where i have the rent spare, which goes towards the savings - boosts it by £1300 over the next 16 months, plus the minimum 100 each pay between now and then = £1700, for a total of £3000.......

Long rambling post, but by carefully doing the sums like we did you can work it out and hopefully be able to go!! :goodvibes

And yes, you can just log on to pay small chunks off the booking with WDTC :)

Only you know if you can save that amount of money in a year! Look at your income and be realistic about your outgoings and savings for emergencies etc and see how much you can cut back on and how much you can save. Once you've determined how much you can save a month decide what type of holiday you want, for example do you want to stay onsite, whether you want to fly direct or indirect and then get a rough idea of how much your trip is going to cost. Then you can figure out how long it will take you to save up for it. Personally I'm always saving for a WDW trip! :thumbsup2 Even when we've not got one booked, I just put a set amount of money into our holiday fund each month and then it's there when we need it.

As far as logging in and making partial payments if you book with WDTC UK (unless it's changed recently) you can't do that, but I do believe that you can phone them and they will accept patial payments over the phone.

Hope this helps a little. Good luck in your saving and decisions! :goodvibes

Yes!!! After going twice last year I knew there was no chance of a trip his year (or anywhere actually, which is driving me mad) but We are tentivilly scheduling in next May for a trip. It's jut the two of us so I only have to pay for myself, it's looking at about £1400 if we do 10 days which I can pay for providing I save 150 each month. If I can bag a new job in the next month then it's on! Fingers crossed.

Awww thank you all for your replies :wizard:

You have NO IDEA how good it feels not to be on my own with my crazy Disney fever :rotfl2:
And also you guys brought me back down to earth as yesterday I honestly was just about to book it there and then in a fit of crazy!

Over the next few days Im going to sit down, PROPERLY hehe with all my finances and see if its possible.

And bazzanoid I loved the long rambling post it totally matched my mood lol

Aww guys I really hope we get to go sooner rather than later, fingers and toes crossed for all of us AND sending some pixie dust for good measure :wizard::wizard::wizard:

If you book with Virgin Holidays they accept partial payments of how ever much you want to pay once you've paid your deposit and you can do it online or over the phone. Good luck with the finance balancing :thumbsup2

yes i am totally busting to book!!! i am having a few decision issues though but at least been so undecisive gives me extra savings months

im always putting money in our holiday fund but the boyfriend keeps sneaking it back out he wants to pay our credit cards off first and then go in 2014 but im really pushing for 2013 , hes a lot more practical and sensible than me and i can see his point of view but I DONT WANT TO WAIT I WANT TO GO NOWWW!!

OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are two peas in a pod.........DBF is the super sensible one and like yours is happy to wait till 2014, me I'm going CRAZY!!! If i dummy book anymore holidays and price any thing else i think my laptop will implode :rotfl2:
And checking out all the holidays just makes me want it soooo much more lol

My argument is that it would give us something to really look forward to and focus saving on as lately we have been wasting so much on takeaways/cinema trips etc and they are the same thing over and over again and really getting boring :coffee:
i think if we had focus on a holiday we could work towards it and it certainly would be anything but boring and well worth saving for!!! (now i just have to convince him :rotfl2:)

its annoying isnt it , we only have 100 hours internet a month and if it runs out im going to be in trouble !!

i have a mountain of brochures i price up on about 20 websites daily lol

im really getting a bit obsessed

if its just the 2 of you i would say go ahead !! we are a family of 5 so ticket costs are astronomical , as i want to do everything

we have been talking about this trip for years and it was always planned for 2014 but lateley im just so fed up, we had a huge credit card bill!! and i mean massive and we have just done nothing but pay all our money in to clear that for the last 3 year he still wants to clear the whole thing before we book it but i can see its nearly cleared and think we deserve our reward now!!

we are currently paying £800 a month on said monster credit card tho so think of all the saving we can do when its gone wooo

i know it makes me sick !! dont think we will save it all though would be nice to have our sky tv back and a few other luxury non essentials we cut back on ! kids in my 5 year olds school class have better mobile phones than i am using at the moment !!

But in fairness, drop an iphone, you break the iphone. Drop a Nokia 3310, you break the floor :thumbsup2

Another one itching to book here.

We got back from DLRP 2 days ago. And while it was a fun trip all it really did was make me miss WDW more. The hotels aren't the same and the French version of the rides alienate you a little and made us want the English ones.

Not a chance we'll get there next summer. Very slim chance maybe next autumn.

Never mind. I'll just have to be patient until 2014 and plan every detail of this next trip.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

PLUS: Isn't retro totally in fashion?? you are soooo cool with your nokia :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:cool1::cool1:

Torsie24 has a really good point about being patient and super dooper planning though:scratchin On one side I just want to book it NOW but realistically it would be a much more comfortable trip all the way in 2014...i guess (totally dont want to admit this to myself lol )

We got back just over a week ago and for the first time I can see no Disney trips on the horizon for a few years

We're having to do grown up things like save for a new house, and we promised ourselves this last trip would be the last holiday before we do super saving and move to somewhere bigger.

I don't think we will be back until 2016 at the earliest :scared1:

I love my Nokia :) but mostly because it has a Mickey Mouse case. (Those interchangable cases were the best thing about them.)

On a savings note when I'm saving for WDW I work out how much I can afford to save and then set up a savings account with a standing order from my current account set for just after payday. That way I'm not tempted to spend it.

Tell me about it, although rather than a new house we need a house!

We've provisionally picked dates for next September/October but have nothing booked. Boyfriend is the sensible one out of us and wants the money to go towards a deposit, and while I somewhat agree, I'm just desperate to go back!

He is adamant though if we do go next year it's the last

I know the feeling! We went in Feb this year, but as soon as we got back, I was desperate to go again! I've been Disney crazy the last few months (doesn't help I have half a dozen t-shirts now :rotfl2:)

Im sensing that the DBFs are the sensible ones here :rotfl2:

We sat down at the weekend properly with the finances (good advice buzzanoid even though I hate to admit to being all grown up about everything lol)

AND........:sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2:
Its defo 2014 for me........ did I mention :sad2: Taking finances into account we could save like crazy and do next june BUT DBF will have no holidays from work due to doing a part time uni course so 2013 isnt going to happen, again:sad2: (not being dramatic here or anything lol)
I havent been since 2008 so its like actually driving me crazy but apparently time will fly by lol
So Im officially with torsie24 and all the 2014ers :wizard:princess: and Sparkly as for the tshirts I raided pennys (primark i think you call it) the other day and found some cheapy cuties to ease the Disney crazies :goodvibes

Any one else ever been planning this far out and find that the time flew by??? Or is it agonising/drive you crazy?? Any tips to get through the Disney crazies :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl:

2014's better then no holiday at all! I find time flies anyway. Before, I was planning my 21st at Disneyland Resort, and that's not until 2015!

We're possible 2013ers, just waiting for parents to decide WHEN so I can make a countdown :cool1:

What I love for a quick Disney fix is to go into a Disney Store and walk around for a bit. So sparklyyyy and shinyyyy and oohh. Wish they sold adult clothes over here- the US one had some really lovely t-shirts which I can't wait to buy more of!
