We just came back from our last Spring Break vacation with a high-schooler. Our dd is 18 also, and our youngest, and the event was indeed bittersweet.( Having to pay for a 3rd adult in the room was a downer, I'll admit.) Just enjoy having this time with her. The years speed by all too fast. Her older brothers would go to WDW in a heartbeat, (if dh and I were picking up the tab, lol)~my goal is to have the whole family there again at one time.

I know I will be bawling my eyes out when my oldest turns 18! He just turned 13 and that was tramatic for me to think he just turned to be a tennager!

My "oldest baby" turns 23 tomorrow. I use to sing him "When You Wish Upon A Star" when I gave him his bottle at the 3am feedings. I cry every time I stand next to him and hear it during Wishes. I worried for years that he would think he was too old to go with me but seems it was all in my head! This May not only is he going with me but 4 of his college buddies are coming with us too!!!

I haven't read all of the responses but I almost cried today when I realized I have to look UP at my 12 year old son.

He's already 5'5" and about 150 lbs. This was just after my daughter and I were looking at old Disney & Universal trip pictures from when they were only like 3&5 years old. My daughter is almost 10 so this will be the last child ticket I ever buy!

They grow up so fast! I hope my kiddos want to keep going back to Disney as they get older. I remember my first trip, I was 12 or 13 and it's stuck with me ever since!

I understand. My dd turns 18 in May and we are going for her birthday/graduation. It does feel like our last family trip to me. I also am having a very hard time with it. I know she will do fine but I just dont feel like I have had enough time. I suppose there will never be enough time, they grow up so fast.

My 14 yr old told me while we were watching Illuminations last trip that I might as well buy DVC so we could always take family trips even after she was married and had her own kids.
We'll see about DVC.. but Disney is in our blood.. we'll always go

ETA.. and the reason I am such a Disney lover is because of the memories of going with my parents when I was little.

It's hard
They're getting older-we're getting older
My sweet DD (21 now) went with me and my sister this past AUG. We three "girls" had blast. She still loves her Disney. And when she's home from college I can always get her to watch a Disney movie with me.
My DS (almost 18 and graduating HS)- that's another story He's like his dad "been there, done that".

That is so sweet that your kids were fortunate enough to go a lot. I've only been once and I turn 21 in a month. My family didn't really like Disney (my parents have been three times, my siblings and I have only been once), but I hope that one day I will be able to take my children often and that I will marry a guy who will be willing to take them every year or every other year and that they will appreciate/understand my love for all things Disney. I think I will be like most of you and cry when they are about to "leave the nest" and/or not want to go to WDW with me anymore. I'm a sap.

I wanted to cry when my twins turned 10 and I had 4 Disney adults to pay for! It didn't seem to be as bad when the older ones turned 10, but two at the same time was horrible. Now I've got the oldest turning 18 this year, but luckily not until after our trip. It will really be hard when the youngest turns 10 in four years.

My older daughter turns 18 in July. Next year she will be a senior in high school and my younger daughter will be a junior.

We have always gone to Disney in August (usually every other year). Next year we will take them out of school to go in November. I figure it is my last shot as a family and they have never seen the Christmas decorations and Osbourne lights.

My older DD tells me she will never be too old for Disney. I believe we will go in the future together but we will need to plan around school, work and boyfriends.

The last time DH and I went, my sister, brother in law and nephew (5) were there. There is something magical about seeing Disney through the eyes of a child.
