I did something soooo stupid- I have been frequenting a Mexican restaurant here in town for about 3 years (4-5 times a week). I have had my eyes on a particular waiter for most of that time; well for about the last month, he has really been flirting with me everytime I go in. Well he gave me his phone # about 3 weeks ago and I have not called him until today. When I called him, he was still at work and it was hard for him to hear me and it was really awkward. Also, to make matters worse, he did not know who I was!!!!!!!!!! I thought that would be a possibility because he has never asked my name, we just flirt like crazy. Anyway, what can I do to not feel like a desperate fool and contiune to beat myself up. Also, my bestfriend has told me several times that he gives his number to lots of girls and that I should not give him much thought, so of course I don't want her to know. I want to fix this and not make a big deal about it and be able to continue to go to the restaurant without being embarassed.

Please help me NOT feel like an idiot!!!!

:rotfl: I was just going to comment on that! :rotfl: As I saw the username and wondered about your "kids".
No advice for you. You could just go back in the restaurant and see how he treats you then and introduce yourself by name and see where it goes.

I do think that a lot of guy waiters flirt though in an effort to get bigger tips.

Oh boy, I would probably try not to act embarrassed the next time you saw him. It may be hard, but I'd bring it right up to him and maybe make a funny comment about it. Like, "Sure, you give me your phone number, I call you and you didn't even know it was me. Maybe I should've given you my number." Or something like that.

It lets him know that you made the effort, the ball is now in his court, it's still a little flirty (he could agree and ask for your number) and you're not embarrassed about it b/c you're willing to bring it up. I wouldn't act like it had been awkward. That might help your dignity, if you're feeling bruised! :grouphug:

Try not to worry too much, there's nothing wrong with going after a guy if you're interested and it doesn't turn out like you'd hoped. Let us know what happens and I'm sorry that happened to you! Good luck!!

Do you really want to get entangled with someone who gives his number out to numerous people????

I would totally eliminate his man from my life.

If he is very important to you then ignore my advice.

if he doesn't know your name.. how would he know who you were the next time you go in the place? did you explain who you were? if not, act like you normally do and maybe he will think you are someone else.. :teeth:

That's great advice!! It keeps it nice and light - no pressure. As far as him giving his number out to other girls, have you personally seen him do this? Have you seen him overtly flirt with other girls? If you haven't witnessed it then I wouldn't put too much stock in what another woman says. Please don't flame me but I've seen too many women play the old "crab in the bucket" game.

Thanks Cindyluwho,
I like your name. People always used to call me Linnie Lu when I was a kid.

I'm from a state (Montana) where we have no marine life whatsoever (well ok, trout). What is the crab bucket game?

great advice linnie the pooh. a perfect answer.
