I love the holidays, I really do. When I decorate, I tend to go multi-denominational and put up stuff for Christmas, Chaunkah, Kwanzaa, even Yule and the Solstice.

That being said, it's only the beginning of November! Ever time I walk into any store, no matter if it's Publix, Wal-Mart, even CVS, there's holiday decorations everywhere and have been since October!

The holiday season just doesn't seem to feel as good when people stretch it out for 3 months :confused3

I feel the same way. It wasn't even Halloween and the xmas decorations were already up. I guess they figure people aren't going to spend as much so their remedy is to bombard you with christmas for 2 1/2 months!

I totally agree. A lot of neighbors are putting up their decorations today. I have just taken in my Halloween ones :rolleyes1

I just hate rushing the seasons, as much as I love the Holidays, I don't usually start on my Xmas ones until Dec 1.

To each his own I guess. That is just my take on it. :)

I agree too! I saw Christmas commercials before Halloween! That really freaked me out! Darn commercialism!

I don't think that you are all a bunch of grinches. I think that you just want to preserve the specialness of what is special to you.

I personally think it's disrespectful to put it all up before Remembrance Day (Veteran's Day in the US) is over. I try to wait until mid november at least to put up the tree. And I also find hearing Christmas Carols November first obnoxious.

I hate to rush it too, even though this year I really do want it to get here. Right now we are in Thanksgiving mode and will be until at least the day after.

I shop at craft stores quite often - and that is the one place I don't mind seeing the stuff early, 'cause crafters have to get a start on their projects.

Music in stores and the rest - I really wish they would wait until at least the week of Thanksgiving.

ETA: we sometimes put lights up this far ahead in order to take advantage of good weather here in the Northeast, but we don't turn them on until later.

:)
