But I do want to share this with ya'll.
My General Manager at the theater asked me on Friday to speak with him privately while I was setting up to start the day. Naturally, I start freaking out and worrying that I had done something wrong, but he consoled me and said that it's not bad. So after I finish getting the concession stand ready, I went up to talk to him.
He stated to me right off the bat, that he did not want to lose me, but he and our district manager had been discussing the fact that another theater in our area was in desperate need of help and stable management. Each time they had discussed this, my name kept popping up. David (my GM) asked me point blank how I would feel about transferring to this theater. (The theater is the one where I started working with the company and it was the place where I started the first job I ever had). So it does have some sentimental value to me. It's mainly an art house now but it has from time to time gotten some good first run movies. The GM over there, is relatively new and is struggling a bit. David told me that the areas that he was weak in are the areas that I've been shining in over at my present job. He also told me that this is an excellent opportunity for me to raise the bar and shine. I'm kinda fourth in line where I am now, and at the other theater I will be second in command and will be trained to eventually run my own theater.
Well our district manager called me at work yesterday and spoke with me. She eased some fears that I did have and we discussed pay (which I am VERY pleased with). She told me to call Shaun up and get with him to select a time to go and talk about when he's ready for me to make the move. I'm going to talk with him tomorrow (Monday).
Needless to say I am very excited to make this move. This is what I've wanted since I first started at the theater as a cashier. I am saddened in that I will miss working with some great people over at the busier place, but I'm excited about this move and the learning opportunities it will present.
Sorry this post is so long! If you've made it this far, blueberry pancakes for each of you!!
