I feel as though my mother is suffocating me.

This has been going on for a while, and I've finally had it. It's like my mom doesn't even trust me. She is ALWAYS seeing what I am doing, in real life and on the internet.

So this started a few months ago. Me and my sister were members of a website, and she decided to join it. That meant that she was going to watch EVERYTHING we did. And trust me, she did. She joined the threads we were always on, and read everything that was posted. She became friends with our friends. Her joining that site also ultimately led to my sister getting banned from the website. And since my sister was banned, my mother forced me to leave the site. And my mother still goes on the site.

So today, she joined deviantart and started watching my account. This makes me so mad. I usually go on deviantart to vent about stuff which she either did or she isn't involved in (my sister goes on deviantart too, so it's not like I'm posting stuff that is a secret) and to write stories, which, I am sure I would get in massive trouble for if she decided to read them. She basically took away my creative outlet. And I'm hoping the same thing doesn't happen on deviantart that happened on the first site.

So, I'm venting to you guys. My mom is a member of this site, but she usually doesn't come on the teen board. I'm sorry for the rant, but she is making me so mad. I'm just waiting until she tries to steal my real life friends and ruin stuff. it's getting on my nerves.

I'm really sorry, but it could be worse.
It's a mom's job to be protective, but it can go a little overboard.

Awww, I'm sorry.
I've never been in that kind of situation. :guilty:
Have you tried talking to her about it?

No. I'm too afraid. She would yell at me and stuff and accuse me of "hiding something" from her. And I would probably get the computer taken away forever.

aww.
i am so sorry.
that must be terrible.
my mom isn't really like that, so i don't know what to tell you to do.

If you're mother is that overprotective, the problem doesn't lie with you, it lies with her. If she can't see it, then it means she's got something really wrong.

Confront her about it. It's time for her to realize you're not a little girl anymore - you have your own thoughts and opinions and you're going to voice them. She wouldn't like it if you snooped in her things when you know she's not hiding anything. Respect is a two way street, and it's not coming from her end.

My mother used to give me that argument when she'd ask me what I did online and I said 'nothing'.
She assumed I was hiding something.
So, so annoiyng.

jw, how old are you? i'm guessing that has a lot to do with it...

You should definitely talk to her. That's the only way it'll ever get better.

My mom is sorta like that, but not as nosy. She won't let me have many of the things that I actually have. I got a facebook and my mom doesn't know about it, and now in some deep poo because my mom's friend found out and i think they might mention it to her when they see her at the new years eve party! @_@

I have no idea what to do to deal with it. My mom doesn't join any sites I go on, she just doesn't let me have them. But she never knows...
