I love to crochet and each year look forward to the fairs for the competition. I entered 18 crocheted items last week at the Warren Co. fair. Well, I ended up with 16 ribbons. 5 first place, 5 second place, 3 third place, 2 fourth place and 1 fifth place. I received a check for $94.00. Pretty good since it doesn't cost anything to enter. Just had to tell somebody who would appreciate it.

Now, on friday I will take my entries to another fair. Harder competition.

I guess most of you do scrapping. Do any of you enter in competitions with your work?

AWESOME!! that must have really made your day to get so many ribbons! I learned how to crochet many years ago when I was abt 12...but haven't a clue how to do it anymore. Maybe you could post some pics
Good Luck with the upcoming competition

Wow! Congratulations!! :) What items do you crochet? My Mom knits dish cloths for Christmas and she gives some to the local fairs. I never got into knitting or crocheting but I know it's a lot of work.

Good luck on your next competition!

Jill

Congratulations! I have done quite a few baby blnakets myself, but nothin gof show quality. I'm not what you'd call a perfectionist, but most of my friends can't tell.

Way to go! By the way, what did you enter?

Congratulations!!!! My grandma crocheted doilies by the hundreds. I have them all over my house. Unfortunately I never learned that skill. :(

I too, crochet dish cloths & have given many a baby afghan away.

What a neat story.

Can you post pix?

Judy

Thanks for the pats on the back!

Unfortunately I have no way of posting pics. I wish I could.

I entered 3 afghans. One is made of squares called a Windmill pattern. Another is a solid linen color made of front and back post stitches and popcorn. The third is in shades of teal in a shell ripple pattern.

I also entered a pink baby set, a white baby dress, a baby bib, a childs hat, a childs cardigan, a childs pullover sweater, a ladies pullover sweater, an angel Christmas ornament, an oval rug, a baby afghan, a trivet, a doily of grapes and fans, a pillow, a pair of mittens and a stuffed animal (bunny).

I guess I enjoy making afghans the best but I'll give a try at any pattern.

Great.....I think it's a lost art. My Great Aunts crocheted my boys blankets when they were born-20 & 22 years ago-I treasure those things.:D They also did "tatting" -like crocketing with very thin yarn or string(??)
