I've been doing some research (ie reading the Brits Guid mainly!) and would like to get people's feedback on the following restaurants that sound interesting:

The Crab House
Hooters
Bill Wongs Famous Super Buffet
China Garden at Mercado

Are these worth the effort? Any other suggestions along these lines?

Any advice gratefully accepted!!:p

Can only comment on Bill Wongs and would definitely recommend it if you like chinese food. The best buffet meal we had for certain. A good variety of hot food.

It's very clean and tidy. Used plates removed from the table before you can blink. Very good value and service.

Also have a selection of cakes and ice-cream - in tubs not the soft stuff. Nice flavours too - cinnamon, my favourite.

Bill Wong's is excellent.

You MUST do Cafe Tu Tu Tango too. Do a search for other people's opinions. It's well worth a visit.

Race Rock

The service and food are great!!,and if you have kids the theming is pretty good also.

I agree that Race Rock is great VFM and always gets a couple of lunchtime visits from the Peewakio family if were not at the parks.
Bill Wongs is another that is on the agenda.
We're not fish lovers so wouldnt know about the Crab House.
Hooters is so so as I cant remember that much about it and we didn't visit last time.
China Garden is bog standard Chinese (try the Ming Court)

Our favourite Restaurant on I Drive has to be Charleys Steak House (rated in the top 10 in the US) it's pricey but you get what you pay for.
Dan Marinos at the Pointe is classy, and for a budget Steak try Wild Jacks.

Hope this helps
:smooth:

I completely agree with Charleys, its the best staek we have ever had.

Ming Court is nice on the out side even nice on the inside, but Uncle bens does better chinese.

Ming Court is mingin'

I love the Crab House - they have some great dishes here and you get a hammer for the crab if you order that. If Stone Crab is in season treat yourself it's wonderful. They have a great buffet station as well if you'd rather have that.

I've eaten at Ming Court and thought it was really good however I don't think it's worth the prices they charge.

Another favourite of mine on I-Drive is Darryl's they have a great beer selection.

Also if you like Italian the Olive Garden is just awesome - I haven't been here for a couple of years but I plan to go hre at least once in December :)

We love Bill Won's and would definitaly recommend it, great value for money. Verity.

I agree with the recommendation for Wongs buffett, we went 3 times in a fortnight on our last trip! However for value for money 'every day' eating you can't beat the Golden Corral right on the junction of I-Drive and Sandlake road (I think). This is a buffet style restaurant like Ponderosa and Sizzlers but seems to have much more choice than those places and we found it to be better value, especially if you have kids with you.

Thanks everyone so far! Lots to think on - one or two questions though:

My girlfriend is veggie although she eats fish/seafood so I presume the steakhouses will have options available? Also, sidB, what/where is Cafe Tu Tu Tango?

Of course if anyone has any more suggestions............!

Thanks again!:p

Trashcanman, check out this thread http://disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=243434 and check out UKDEB's list.

In brief it's a Spanish themed tapas restaurant. When we visited the were having a "superhero night" when all of the waiter/waitresses were dressed up. We were served by a Mutant Ninja Turtle ! Quite weird. I'd go into detail about the girl in the figure hugging Catwoman outfit, but well......... Anyhow, after eating we took a wander around, which is encouraged. There were various things going on including artists, tarrot card readers, face painting, and an excellent charachturist. I'm now the proud father of AquaGirl and SuperHannah. When we were leaving a couple of belly-dancers were arriving. We were there on a Friday evening, which may have meant that there was extra entertainment. There's no pressure to join in. It's just a normal restaurant with extras. The kids want to go back, as do my wife and I.

Where is it ? Opposite Tony Roma's, if that's any help.

I think the fact that she eats fish and seafood will make things a lot easier for you.

I am a vegetarian and do not eat fish or seafood (Is there any actual definition of vegetarian that includes eating fish ?!?) and it can be awkward. Whereas in the UK you can pretty much guarantee there will be 2 or 3 veggie dishes, even in a seafood or steak place, I found in the US this just is not the case.

Where a veggie offering was available it was often salad - the theory seeming to be that people are veggies for health reasons - not the case. And when I'm on holiday I want fried stuff!!!

That said, I haven't been for 3 years or so and things may have improved since then.

IMHO a veggie that eats seafood/fish is, shall we say, 'selective' as is a woman's perogative (or so she tells me!) although at least she hasnt tried to convert me!! I'm more a 'fried' man myself as my waist size will testify!!:smooth:

Sweet Tomatoes 6877 South Kirkman Rd. was on a holiday programme and was recommended for veggies .
