Jump off the roof of the barn! That was the worst tom-boy act my boy cousins ever dared me into. I survived the jump just fine, I knew if I didn't do it they would just toss me off and I would never live it down. I almost didn't survive my mom when she found out what we had done. What is the worst thing you ever did on a dare?

We used to have diving board contests to see who could jump off feet-first, facing backward, and push off the bottom of the diving well hard enough to blast out of the water and grab the diving board with our hands. You were only successful if you could dangle from the bottom of the board.

It was a 10 ft diving well and the board was a meter above the water. The key to grabbing the board on the way up was to make sure we didn't jump away from the end. We had to enter the water nearly directly below the end of the board...and remember, we're facing backward.

Well, I did it successfully...until little sis dared me to try it with my eyes closed. Can you guess what happened? WHACK! My chin hit the board square on. My 2 front teeth went straight through my bottom lip and one of them broke off. Sis and the cousins said the pool looked like Jaws b/c there was so much blood. (This happened in 1976.)

To this day I still have the scars on my lip and chin, and a big shiny crown on my front tooth. :teeth:

:scared1: Oh my gosh, KelNottAt, Thank goodness I never got any lasting scars from my adventures with the boys. I was the only girl cousin so I had to be twice as brave as I wanted to be! :earsgirl:

I don't know..I've been dared to do a lot of things. The scariest thing I was ever dared to do, I didn't do.

I had a friend when I was probably 9-10 years old who had a very odd structure in her bedroom. It was like somebody had built a closet and stapled it to the ceiling. There was a hatch with a short wooden ladder for access to this 'closet' as well as another door on the side that you could open that looked out on to the bedroom proper.

Anyway..this thing is probably 7-8 feet off the ground and she DARES me to go up inside, open the door that looks out onto the bedroom and jump off onto her bed. According to her, she's done it a million times and never gotten hurt. I couldn't do it. I was just too chicken.
