I'm going to a bridal shower today for family, I don't even know the person getting married, it is in her mothers house, my 1st cousin that I am not friendly with, I can't wait to get there and get home. Then someone mentioned to me I am going to hit alot of traffic coming home from the cape on rt 3, I wanna stay home

I think at showers they care more about the presents then the presence (of guests). Can you send the gift along with someone else and beg off? Giving up your Sunday and sitting in traffic is not a reasonable expectation for someone you do not know. You could always give her a "sorry to miss your shower, looking forward to meeting you at the wedding" type of phone call later in the week.

I would not go to the shower of someone I don't know, even if they are related by blood. why would they invite you unless it was for the gift?

sometimes people do this (invite everywoman to the shower) so as not to 'slight' anyone.

I know - sounds odd - I'd never do it personally.

but I also wouldn't accept an invitation to a shower for someone I don't know.

It is my first cousins daughter, I think that is why, they just felt like they had to. I am all ready and going to go and trying to be positive, I guess we all do things in life we don't want to do, I'll just keep thinking Disney in 150 something days.

Deb I wish the Dis meet was in Marshfield, that is where I am going to be. Have fun at the meet, I have never gone to one but am dying to do it at some point when time permits
