I dont want to go to bed at 9pm...what to do?

OK, I just reread your OP. All kidding aside now. You CAN'T leave a 4 year old and a 9 year old alone in a hotel room. Either is capable of just walking out without you hearing them with a baby monitor. I know it's Disney World, but even of no one does anything criminal towards them, they could still get hurt, in trouble, or at least SCARED at being lost in a strange place while Mom and Dad are in the lobby drinking a Heineken and watching a rerun of Desperate Housewives, all the while having no idea that one or both of the kids walked out of the room. If just one of them wakes up, she might try extra hard to keep very quiet to not wake up her sister. Am I giving you nightmares yet??? Good. I like making people laugh, but if I had my choice I'd rather try to help people stay safe so they can feel like laughing later.

Before we bought DVC, the best solution for us were the Fort Wilderness cabins. Kids slept in the bed room, and adults with TV and couch pulled down the Murphy bed when it was time to sleep. It wasn't like a sleep sofa; very comfortable.

i used to read posts like this and i was like, who is the parent here, but after visiting the parks so much and haveing so much fun i realize it does not always work out that way, i have no adice for you but i offer you support and best wishes because when in florida it seems like kids never ever want to go to bed and when they do they are up at the crack of dawn

Cleverocks.....Just to make it clear...I will not be leaving my girls alone in the room. This was a suggestion from someone else...not my idea!!!

I am looking forward to some "down time" with my hubby while the girls sleep, as it is our anniversary, perhaps we can re-enact our honeymoon (the bliss not the *#%)

We're going for our anniversary also and our solution to this dilemma was to bring my mom! She already happily offered to stay with the girls after they go to sleep so dh and I can enjoy the evening...of course considering dh usually goes to be before 9:00 as well I think I may have some solo evenings! Works for me...mom's need a vacation from EVERYONE every once in a while!

Since it's your anniversary, why don't you consider using one of the baby sitting services or clubs for at least one evening so you can get out -- or just stay alone in your room?

On our last trip we stayed at a moderate and had two connecting rooms. This way we put DS to bed early (he was 15 months and went to bed around 7:30) then DD4 to bed a little later (9:00), and then both sat in the next room watching TV, reading, eating food we don't want the kids to see and actually talking to each other. The extra bonus of this plan is you end up with two bathrooms... We had a AAA discount and we spent about as much on these two rooms as we would have on one room at a deluxe.

We've recently bought DVC so that we can avoid this in the future and always get a 1-bedroom. We figure it's great now because our kids are so young and will be going to bed before us for quite a while, and it will be great when they're older because we can actually have a little more space. You could check into renting points from a DVC member and try to reserve a 1-bedroom that way, for possibly less than you're paying for AKL.

Same as us!! DH and I are celebrating 10 years of married bliss ... well okay lets just say DH and I are still married after 10 long years
My Mum is coming with us and we have connecting rooms. She hasn't seen us in over a year so she's excited to spend some alone time with the kids and hubby and I can go out for a nice dinner, or back to Epcot. Can't wait.

In my experience, my kids are so exhausted at the end of the day they could sleep thru a hurricane so having the TV on is no problem at all.
