I actually felt sad (for the children) for some reason. I wonder who Dick is? One of they said he had been wanting to visit Dick for a long time. Something just seems sad to me when children would rather see a person, than to get a gift and go to Disney?

Than again, maybe they are just lucky enough to get to go to Disney a lot so it is not as special to them? ( Is that even possible?)

Not sure if I would be posting that on you tube if that were my kids reaction.

Some of the ones with good reactions though brought tears to my eyes.

That being said, we have surprised the kids about things like going to visit family for a day or something, but would never surprise for a big trip like this. My kids are 6 and 3 and need lots of time to process things and get ready, I don't think they would do well with a big surprise either!

I probably wouldn't have told DD5 that we are going to see someone that see missed.
I would probably have said we were going to a McD play place, or a Lego Store, or a hotel with a swimming pool. Then I would add.. ohhh and there is DW too!

I suprised her on a Sat night one time we were leaving on Sun at like 2 AM.
I about cried with her responce! ...Could be why we keep going.. or maybe I secretly love it more. .... Either way I would die, if she didn't love it like me.

I surprised DD 2 years ago, and she loved it! But I didn't tell her we were going to visit someone she really wanted to see or do something she liked. I picked her up from school and told her we had eye doctor appointments at an office a long way away. Made it more than 2 hours down the road before she asked when we would get there . When she found out we were actually on our way to WDW, she cried, she was so thrilled!

To spin this thread into a positive...you can see my children's reaction. We told them that we were driving to Georgia to see their grandmother. We pulled into Cracker Barrel for a quick lunch and a BIG surprise. Everyone there was laughing when they saw our children find out where we were really going!

I witnessed a similar reaction when I was at the airport and parents told their kids that they were going to Disney instead of Grandma's.

It bothers me that the mom posted that, and cut if off where she did. Seems like she was about to tell those kids what she thougtht of their reaction.

First off, her kids look like a couple of thugs. Secondly, you can tell that's a set up and a half, just by the way the youngest kid kept looking over (like almost for approval of his acting skills) when he was saying he didn't want to go. I bet they were hoping they could send this in to America's (not) Funniest Videos or something.

Melanie230- what a wonderful son you have, just loved how he leaned over to hug your husband's arm as a thank you. What great parents you both are. Also what a sweet daughter, loved how her thoughts were on shopping when she was looking at her money.

I remember when my girls got "tired" of Disney, we live in FL and I'm a single mom, it's where I felt safe taking my girls. My ex and his wife took them to the Bahamas, they came home saying they never wanted to go anywhere but Disney for vacation ever again. LOL one of them was 17 the other was 9. You would have thought DD17 would have loved the Bahamas but Ex's wife picked a resort favored by Europeans but DD said she was tired of seeing old men in speedos. In FT Lauderdale were just used to swim trunks and board shorts.
